I want to make sure I'm on the same page as the rest of you.
When talking FDR I understood a higher FDR as a lower #. Such as 5.0 as opposed to 6.0. 6.0 being a lower FDR. Some seem to be calling it differrently. Are we not talking about gear ratios when talking FDR?
Regarding setup. To get more infield punch, what is the correct change to make. Settings or gearing or combination of both? I have a good Baseline setup from Ty to start with.
Thanks, Rob..........

Historically, higher and lower refers to the pinion size.
Therefore,
-- higher gearing means a larger pinion.
-- lower gearing means a smaller pinion.
Now FDR is inversely related to pinion size.
Therefore, a higher gearing (larger pinion) means a smaller FDR.
To be more precise:
FDR = InternalDriveRatio * ExternalDriveRatio
InternalDriveRatio is fixed for a given car (eg: 2.167 for Cyclone TC).
ExternalDriveRatio = Spur / Pinion (* this is where is inverse relationship fits in *)
To complete the picture:
RollOut = (pi * d) / FDR = distance travelled for 1 rev of the motor.
d = tire diameter.
Cheers

Also inadvertantly answered another question I had regarding "rollout".

I ran the Tekin at the weekend on the v203 software and based my settings on Randy's setting for medium tracks and it worked well. I did change a few things during the day to suit our track - the main change being the turbo ramp rate and turbo delay. Very pleased with my speed...
After the race when I was going through the settings I realised that I had not played with the throttle profile - I had it set at 3 as per Randy's settings. What would I have noticed it I upped the profile?
I was running 10.5.

[QUOTE=M-Technic;7415636]To get the punch I wanted out of my 17.5 it took a combo of ESC settings, motor timing, and gearing.[/QUO
so what is ur esc settings, motor timing and gearing?

Last weekend was the FEMCA ISTC race. I TQ and won the stock class 11.5T using TEKIN. I posted the fastest TQ of all class even beating the mod class. The track was indoor carpet technical design. My car was so smooth and using Tekin got me the advantage. Thank you Tekin for a very fine product.

Turbo lag
Ok, I had my first chance to run the new software this past weekend. What i am experiencing is what i can best describe as turbo lag. I hit the power comming out of a corner and teh car is really slugglish then after about 3ft it starts to really take off.
Here are my settings:
Car: Tam 416
FDR: 6.12
Track: 120x72 fast but with a few tight corners
Drag: off
brake: 100
nw: 56
motor: bl-fw
tp: 3
cut off: 6.430
push: off
timing: 30
turbo: 10
delay: .2
start: 4989
end: 14997
ramp: 2
I tried changing the timing to 40 and boost to 15, it helped some but still had the lag. Temps after 6 minutes 140 and 135 after the change. What do the gurus think, am I getting too much timing too soon? Should I set the delay back a little? Thanks for any and all advice.
