198 was quick, but pretty narrow on setup to keep heat under control
189 was quick, but you'd better temp often and adjust quickly to keep the heat down
183 is pretty much a no-brainer on setup, but a lot like a GTB when it comes to stock class power

We could NOT run 203 for TCS. We had to run 200 or earlier versions.

Ah, gotcha.

I still stand by my answer though, 200 would be your best bet. The best way I found with v200 was to tweak it in is with zero turbo, gear and boost for best infield, then use enough turbo to see a difference, adjust your turbo delay for a consistent engagement point on the straight, then adjust turbo up or down until you're happy with the temps. I saw a few motors get toasted on v200 from people scrapping their entire hotwire profile and gearing to try and shortcut by using someone else's profile without matching gearing or driving style. I made the same mistake briefly and caught my motor at around 200* but luckily before it fried

198 was extremely touchy to dial in for me. Just changing driving line or being more aggressive on my driving could sometimes jump the temps up 40* with no other gearing or setup changes.

189 would be too slow on anything but a very slick track, IMO.

What kind of motor and settings were you losing motors with?

You were right, the white wire had broken in the receiver plug but the wire insulation was still crimped in the terminal, must have been just touching when I pluged it into the receiver.

I soldered it to the terminal and all is working correct now.

Thanks for your help.

Hey there guys whats good settings for the redline 17.5, engine timing on the motor itself and the settings on the Tekin rs, my fdr is 6.5, should i go to 6.0 or leave it at 6.5.
Cheers

gearing depends on the sizeof the track but 6-6.5 is ok

Ooh err. Are you meant to recalibrate your speedo (to the transmitter??) every time you change an ESC setting? I thought you only had to do this after making a change in Transmitter settings. I must say I have made changes that have made a difference but am I not getting the full benefit?

you only calibrate when you change to versions, what he is saying is to set the endpoint at 90* calibrate then add 10 to the endpoint

Got my system working on my 17.5 Duo 2

WAY FAST!!!

just wondering how do i get more bottom end punch

right now i have

FDR 7.8
end rpm 7500
start 1500
TP 4
turbo 12
timing 50
ramp - 3
delay .1

i turned up the ramp, lowered the delay and upped the gearing and that helped alot with the bottom end - just wondering if there is anything else I can do - I guess im just trying to get it to "feel" like my spx but still have tis insane top end

Raise your start to 3000. That should give you you what you are looking for.

I think you're over timing the motor at the bottom end, you want the motor to start off using it's torque to get going and by starting to apply the timing at 1500rpm you're robbing the motor of start up torque. Maybe try this and see how it feels.

End RPM 10500 - 12000
Start RPM 5500 - 7000
TP 5
Turbo Boost 12
Timing Advance 50
Turbo Ramp - 2
Turbo Delay .5

OR

End RPM 15000
Start RPM 5000
TP 4
Turbo Boost 12
Timing Advance 50
Turbo Ramp - 2
Turbo Delay 0
