Starting setup would be appreciated as I don't want to burn anything out.
I read on this thread that with low turn motors (such as the one that I am planning to use), one should not use any turbo, or boost. True?
Recommended setup please?

My opinion is that any motor below 6.5 turns is a overkill for TC as it rips your drive train to shreds.
I wouldn't use turbo but a very little amount of timing can be done.
Go with a high FDR and check motor temps every 2 to 3 minutes as the X12 can run very hot but start to loose brakes and torque if they becomming to hot.
Smoked a X12 a few weeks back due to a to high setting on the ESC and that was a 10.5 and in a Pro10 2WD

I would suggest dual mode.
This because you want to run with timing and not break down if anything happends with the sensorboard of the motor or you sensor cable

i have been running a 4.5 with stock profile , thats quick !!!! if you gear it right and get the correct throttle profile your drive train should be ok ;-)

At the ZAC races, you can hear what i mean.
At the start of the heat the mod TC guys have a nice quiet car but when you hear them a few minutes in the heats you hear the belts skip when they brake or accellerate out of the corners.
From what i heard, Hara had to rebuild his drive train after every heat at the worlds or ETS last year.

just picked up a reedy sonic 13.5 to run in worldgt. heard good thing about the motors, though not sure where to begin with my boost profile. I tried to treat it like a duo1, boost through the whole rpm range and i tried treating it like my lrp, that only seemed to like boost mid-high rpm range but both seem a little sluggish.
running new tires out of box, rolling out high 60's.
our track is a typical parking lot outdoor 12.5-13 second lap average.
i dont get a lot of tracketime, so its not that im lazy, it is just a matter of trial and error on the unprepped street, not in race conditions lol.

@Valk.......What rollout are you running with those tires??
12 to 13 sec track screams for a low rollout.
Had a national race last weekend on a fairly short track and we were running with a 10.5 and boost,turbo and timing a rollout of 37.
I think you need to start with about 45 and work your way from there.
Let the motor rev a bit and you will see it accelerates better.

most people seem to rollout between 65-70 at our track, though most of those cars are d3 based.
I could try lowering the rollout a little too as im pretty close to 70, might be overgeared for the timing im trying to push.

@Valk...By WGT you mean the cars like the Asso10R5, Xray X10 and the Serpent S100??
If so, with the older type motors you need to gear them lighter then the newer motors like the D3 or the X12.
This because of the torque of the newer motors.

Then maybe i should just set higher static timing and gear for that, add a little turbo for the straight?
Almost wish i could just run blinky 10.5 instead. Car was fast and smooth.

What i said Valk run it with a lighter gear ratio and you will found out that it will accelerate better and has enough top speed.
Last weekend spur 81, pinion 16 and tire diameter 58MM.
This with a 10.5 with timing,boost and turbo.
Laptimes of the fastest guys where in the low 15, high 14 seconds.
Should be a nice starting point for you and work your way from there.

Adjust RPM range for how agressive you want to be out of corners.
Also remove fans from motor and point at the speedy, the motor will be fine, but the speedy will thermal if not cooled by fan.
I run a X12 5.0t, geared at 9.18 FDR on the track linked below.

I recently put in a brand new align ds620 servo into my futaba 3pm mx with 603ff diversity rx and rs pro with 10.5T. now i am experiencing momentary cut off of power to the receiver - the green light on the receiver would go red indicating drop in power, the leds on the tekin rs pro would dim down then the center led would light up momentarily then it would be good again. this happens (when the car is stationary) if i were to just move the steering quickly left and right (I dont even have to do it many times just twice and the problem above occurs), however, if i run a 4500uF cap into the receiver, it is fine, no problems at all. i want to know if there is anything i can do so that i can avoid running the cap into the receiver? there is nothing wrong with the servo, tested it in other radio/rx units and its good, and my 3pm and rx are also working well with other servos. i dont think there is anything wrong wit the tekin unit either. i read the bec in the rs pro is 6v at 3amps, which should be plenty for the servo right?, how can i test that i am getting this as i think the servo seems to be drawing a lot of power but it is only rated for 6v. i recall that spektrum has this problem, but i have not heard of futaba having this problem with tekin esc. should i run another cap (already have one cap on the esc) on the esc? would this do anything to prevent this momentary power loss? appreciate any thoughts on this or if anyone has any similar problems to this.
