Hi Randy. Glad to see you. With the settings of the engine Hara Fantom apex (revtech) burns for 4 minutes.

Saves motor only. Start 2500 RPM FDR 5.7. But I'm not sure that it was good. And greetings to Jeff of Fantom.

The retech motors are designed for zero timed classes. Try it with the D3 (ION 3) motor you were talking about in an earlier post.. or try lowering the endbell timing..

Also a start RPM of 2500 is too low.. increasing it will also lower ur temp..

As Wayne mentioned, that motor has more mechanical timing it, so you will get a lot of heat if there's too much timing overall. You can either:

* Reduce the level of boost in the ESC
* Reduce the end-bell timing on the motor

I think a start RPM of 2500 is too low. I've had good results with an FDR in the 6.2 range and a start RPM of around 5000RPM. The car had very good acceleration and also good top speed (with a 17.5 Fantom Ion 2).

If you want more guidance, please post the complete setup of your ESC (boost/turbo/ramp/start & end rpm) and where the end-bell timing on the motor is.

Done right, this combination can be very quick

Hi,

I run this exact combination (RS Pro + 17.5 Fantom Apex) in my T3 2012. Had no problems with heat (65 deg C after 6 minutes running a dual fans) running on a 30 degree C day. I have even slightly increased the timing on the motor.

It was good enough for me to TQ and finish 2nd out of 25 or so racers in a recent race meet.

When I get home tonight I will post up my settings for you to try.

C ION2 (D2) and ION3 (D3) do not have heat settings in the Hara. Overheating of motors on the Fantom Apex (RevTech) - not suitable setting Hara.

Recommendations of the Trinity, but it is not presented here to see prices what class and what FDR.

What motor are you planning on using?

1 Tekin cap is suitable for most applications, so the above isn't something that's usually needed.

These things pop up from time to time, purporting to give a performance gain.

Something to the effect of ".....provided a significantly noticable increase in punch over the stock capacitor and provided cooler operating temps on the ESC/Motor"

and

"...adds a noticable amount of punch over stock setup. Several racers observing practice yesterday, at a larger scheduled event (running against same electronics/motor setup cars, minus the (milti cap board) noticed I could easily pull about 2-3 car lengths out of corners on competitors with added punch! It is working superbly with fantastic on track results!"

For Tekin: Is there something to this or should we just be saving our $20+ for race fees?

Tekin is adamant that the stock 16v 330uf cap is the best for the RS. I always ran a Speed Passion high capacity cap on mine with no issues whatsoever, but I'll also say it was not an advantage on the track.

running mod 5.5. it's been a while since i ran my car. the last i remembered it was running rather hot (cant remember the temp), was thinking to solder another cap in parallel (total 2 caps), but will be using the tekin cap tt3520.

was thinking how to solder 2 caps onto the esc then i remembered other makers hv caps on a pcb with wire soldered to esc. was thinking maybe i can get the tekin caps and solder on a pcb with wire (keeping as short as possible) to esc

Where is the motor timed? Your FDR shows you must be on a larger track?

There is no performance to be gained lap time wise with that many caps. The entire purpose of the cap is to keep the esc temps down.

In mod we often add a 2nd cap to the esc, again to manage temps.

I have in the past wired up 3 of the TT3520 caps together using their own leads, adding a short lead, and shrinking the assembly. Understand that the closer the cap is to the esc the better it will perform.

Understood loud and clear, the other cap boards are simply marketing hype.

Hi Haltol,

Here are my settings:

Tekin RS Pro + Fantom Apex 17.5 in T3 2012 with twin Yeah Racing fans.

FRD - 5.5 (84/29)
Boost - 40
Turbo - 18
Ramp - 3
Delay - 0.1
Start RPM - 2950
End RPM - 13996

I have advanced motor 2 markings

Here is a link to footage of my car at a recent race meet at my local track. This should help put the settings into context with where I race.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Simon
