But let me rephrase my question.

Is there something different about the 212 stock spec that would require it to have different blinking LEDs?

To avoid confusion between 208 (not ROAR approved) and 212 (ROAR APPROVED), LED 3 and 5 will blink for the No Timing Stock class. If only the center LED is blinking when you're tech'ed, you will be immediately disqualified.

212 is the newest and supersedes any previous versions.

Again, 212 is the version everyone should use moving forward.

It's up to your club. If they are following USVTA rules to the letter, the RS isn't legal. However, most big races seem to be allowing any approved ROAR Sportsman Spec ESCs, so that would mean you need 212 (since that version is now ROAR approved). ROAR revoked 208's approved status.

I am new to the tekin and should have mine tomorrow or thursday. Does this new software have 3 different profiles available? Why is the 208 not roar legal? Was there just now strict identifaction between timing and stock profile? Is it slower in timing mode?

208 has 2 customizable profiles, plus all the stock ones that you can switch between. It has not been stated if 212 is any different. v208 was ROAR legal for timing-advance speedos, but was not legal in the fixed-timing class.
