There should be no reason to go over 60 and cleary you've proven it with the statement that you blow up motors.
The reason why in 1/12 you can get over this figure without constant failure is that it's 1s. If you were to run those settings in 2s you'd blow motors much more frequently.
That "don't go over 60" statement has been made by me a few times, and I stick by it. THere should be no reason to go that high.

Personally i dont think i will ever try that much timing, but i know of some that do. I refuse to burn up motors and speedos in an attempt to be the fastest guy... especially at a local level. Just keep in mind that each car/speedo/driving style will change if a setup works or not. There are too many variables involved to say that much timing is ultimately bad, but i think Randy is just trying to give a safe limit to observe.

yeah it was,the next day half the 13.5 class ran mod it was a site to see some mod run.
i was doing some low acceleration in my hand to see where rpm starts 2-3k 1/4 throttle 5-7k is half throttle 8-10k 3/4 throttle or just before full throttle it kind of gives you an idea where timing is being applied,you can visualize you car as it moves,randy has said 1k is a walking pace.this may be useful it may not

that wheelie is just amazing. I thought it was going to be some random freak accident that happened one time, but he was able to do it back to back.

There was a stage a few clubs tried to prolong the life of 235mm Circuit cars... a totally amazing class in my view... by running them using sedan bodies and these would lift the front wheels quite noticeably when they changed into 2nd gear... awesome to see... makes me wish I had a video camera in those days

ran for about 8 minutes, temps were 150-160* F.
He was only about 20% throttle most of the track, and on that first lap in the video when he goes WOT on the back straight it was only for a split second. The car was literally pulling wheelies and it had multiple blow-overs.

He was only about 20% throttle most of the track, and on that first lap in the video when he goes WOT on the back straight it was only for a split second. The car was literally pulling wheelies and it had multiple blow-overs.
