Probably something new coming then Anyway, buggy-season starts in one month, so no rush I guess.

What will be in the new kit?. Damper-tubes, better weight alignment(or battery positions), linear side-springs, or just inline-config in kit... Hope there will be some backward compatibility...

So is this the upcoming new kit? As was already mentioned, the Associated website lists the 12R5.1 as discontinued and does not show any replacement. I emailed Associated and just got an answer back from customer service indicating that the person in customer service thinks they are working on a new car.

That is the 12R5.1 with the inline lipo conversion. It is their latest kit as of right now...

At the Carpet Nats last month, the factory AE guys were testing out what looked like a new car. I saw damper tubes and what appeared to be a slightly redesigned rear pod. From what I heard from other racers who spoke with the AE guys(I did not actually talk to them myself, so this is just grapevine), was that Associated is designing a new 12th scale that they are aiming to release at the start of next carpet season... ie: fall 2012.

Take all of this with a grain of salt...

Pics of my 10r5 w/tubes and the plate is universal with another drilled hole for the body you can use it on a 12r5 too. I have also drilled out on the plate a couple of holes to where you can adjust the pivot ball (football) without removing the rear pod top plate! Works great!

Then they should prompte put out a teaser. The 5.1-.2 combo should at least be available until release, else you buy something else. I guess most of us buy a car to have for one or two seasons, deliver (put on hold, new car coming) or you will buy another brand.

Im getting my 5.2 to act well now, no new car for me in a couple of years at least. But, I did order a SM tube-conversion yesterday just to as a try-out

Default Rear chassis ride height.

A quick, dumb question from a noob: What is the proper way to raise rear chassis height?. Setup: blue center spring(pre-tensioned all in), lots of droop(?),my chassis go in a v-shape(correct height front & pod, low rear chassis. Bottom out on throttle. Gold center spring(no preload) = flat & even chassis. Using inline layout, with lrp sxx and reedy 6500 1s, silver side springs. Mount center shock: Low front hole, 1 (2 mm) spacer rear. No droop spacer in shock. Set up with gold center spring and lots droop; drove like a dream, though it's supposed to be better "soft".

Will be trying out the scene of 1:12 coming indoor season, and have got my hands on a RC12R5.1 (non lipo conversion).

I am looking for a good basic setup for low grip, slightly bumpy carpet conditions as well as tire recomendations. Will be running mod (4.0t Fantom)

Also if anyone knows of any articles to read about how to set-up a 1:12, that would be awesome

I am completly new to this, but have been running 1:10 touring mod for a while.

We run outdoors in Aus most of the time. However there is no spec 12th class atm, it's all Mod. If it is 17.5 blinky you are running though I would suggest you are going to need something around 100 mm or more!

Because we do most of our running outdoors we usually use 48p gears. So, that's something you might want to consider.

For the 12R5.1 I typically run 25 wt in the side-shock and blue springs when racing on Asphalt. But if the track is treated that changes.

Tyres... It really depends on both the exact nature of the surface, and the track temperature. For an untreated surface, lots of people use Speedminds, typically something in the range 30 to 35 shore front and rear. If the grip is really up then Magentas in the rear can work well with either a purple or magenta front, if there is no grip at all generally pinks are what you want in the rear paired with either a purple front, or often something a little harder.
