The #1502 Sophia GT will be released tomorrow.

MGTS = Maserati Grand Turismo. To be eventually released as the "Gianna GT". Italy's got some GT style cars with great looking bodies. (and the gals over there ain bad either)

Hey Dale, did you have any of the Maseratis at the IIC? If so...any pictures? If not...what all needs to be done at this point and will it be out by Cleveland?

Dale,
Are we likely to see an Aston Martin DBR9 from the Protoform stable?

trackdesigner71;

No - I didn't have any samples with me in Vegas. Actally, the Gianna project is not too far along at this time. Not enough hours in the day it seems (for me at least). I also want to see what shakes out with the WGT class in the way of official body rules etc. It's a waste to invest too much time, $ and effort in something when there are no real rules in place. No worries though, there will be more WGT bodies coming.

Regarding the body rules for the WGT class: I tried to find a "happy medium" between realism and funtionability with the Sophia GT in hopes it would influence the eventual rule-makers regarding roof/wing height etc. The 95mm min. height rule for the Vegas race was way too low in my opinion. We need to keep these looking a bit realistic - even with the way out-of-scale 2.1 and 2.2 in. diameter tires. This Sophia GT (pictured) is 104mm at top of roof and wing.

jasonb;

I've heard another company is working on an AM body. Some day I hope to do one of some sort - after all one of my absolute favourite GT cars is the Vantage V8. Sure wish I had muchos dolleros.

No problem Dale...take your time...you have an excellent body in the Sophia...I could definitely see the Selenia paint job from the old WTCC spec Alfa Romeo 156 GTAs on one of those.

I think with IIC and CLeveland we have a pretyy good handle on power at this point. Dale does bring up a good point in that we need to get consistency in body rules. That may possibly open up chances for more GT bodies from more body makers like Parma and Dahms/Vans Invent and more. I think a 105mm body and wing height would be more than sufficient and allow for things like teh Aston Martin DBR9 or any of the bodies from FIA LMS and FIA GT (like the Maserati and the Mosler MT900R or the TVR Tuscan or the old Lister Storm

Our club and racers here in Colorado are running 13.5/4 cell and 17.5/lipo. Hope this makes it into the "Rules". If you have been watching the Vintage Trans-Am, the class has grown a lot with the lipo option, as many racers are tired of cells.

Just my 2 cents.

Dale, I just put on one of your new "GT1" bodies and got to say it works really well. Can't wait for the new 200mm GTP and trying a new Sophia!!
