GT10 Class
 

HAHA!! Thought I would try and start a new thread called GT10 and see if it bites or not.

GT10 is a new 2wd direct drive/axle 200mm pan car class that runs GT bodies. Yup. :D

I am for it Jimmy. Any idea which car you are going to get yet? I was looking at the Corrally the rear pod on it looks really cool. Speedmerchant is interesting, the DB10r is sweet looking and of course the CRC car is pretty awesome looking. I cant wait to see the other cars from Associated and whoever else. Did you see the 12l5? If their new 1/10th is similar should be real nice. I also like the idea of the GT bodies, I want an RX8 body that will handle for mine, or better yet a second gen RX7 since I have a 1/1 convertible. Also are you thinking 4cell 13.5 or 17.5 or what here local? Either will work for me and if I can get a 3.7 lipo I might try that in place of the 4 cell.

This is going to be a great class, GT bodies look way better than modern TCs.

Pan cars are fast in 4 or 6 cells, but no one will know for sure which is better until the cars are out for testing. Either way, nice cars and less trouble category.

Why do we need to take a step back with sub c's when this reinvented class should put us on pace towards the future.

I have not tried the 21.5 yet, I have a 17.5 and 13.5 which are fast with 4 cell but not ridiculous. The 17.5 with 7.4 Lipo at least in oval seems to run just a tad slower than 10.5 4 cell so not a bad speed. The only prob with the 21.5 is that they are hard to come by right now but 17.5 and 13.5 will probably have a lot of options shortly.

I will more than likely buy both the CRC and BMI. I will test 4cell and lipo at both Durham, Rosewood (indoor and out), and Fayetteville. To me I would rather see 4cell as the choice since oval and 12th scale are also 4cell. But I do have lipo packs and 6cell packs for my TC. I am really open to whatever is decided to run. I'm just excited to see this class being formed. I would rather do 10th scale pan car than TC. I am getting burned out of TC racing after doin it since '96. I really wanted to do 12th scale in the past at Rosewood. Everyone talked about doing it locally. But it was all talk. So I gave up on that idea. Now this is starting up. I'm gonna give it a go. Even if I can only "bash" with it at the tracks. At least I'll be having fun doing what "I" want to do. And perhaps I can go to bigger events and race in a GT10 class there.

It's an adapter to allow you to run spur gears on the motor.

Jimmy, I understand about the 1/12th, I bought 1/12th twice and was all ready and never had more than 3 people show in any one week so I just gave up. As for touring I will not buy another any time soon and and will just keep running the Xray I bought from you last year. The prices with the dollar to Euro conversion are just way too much. I could almost see buying an US built car but Neither the TC5 or Losi do anything for me so I am ready to try this new class. Though I might try some offroad if I can find somewhere to run electric close by.

So far the CRC looks the best to me but I will wait to see what else comes out since I have about a month before I buy.

I do not want to rain on your parade, but IFMAR formerly called this class PRO10. Is it necessary to change it, rather than accept it as an evolution of that?

There so many differences between Pro10 and this propossed class (GT10), it seems wise to differentiate. Battery voltage, motors, bodies, vehicle dimensions ... all different. It is easier to note the one similarity between Pro10 and GT10, they're both 1/10 pan cars. :p

(Note: the Nissan 350Z runs in the Japanese GT Championship and the TVR Tuscan Speed 6 ran in FIA and British GT in the 90s and I believe early in the 21st century)

How about this, let's take a look at the current rules for this Pro10 class, and use it and tweak it for this new GT10 class? Pro10 can remain Pro10 with 235mm and GTP bodies. GT10 will be a whole new class with 200mm chassis and GT series bodies. I know some may not agree and think it should remain Pro10. So I say let them run Pro10. For those of us who want to form a new class called GT10, well let US form a new class called GT10. So "we" who want this new class will form it here. Again, others don't have to accept it for their track. They can make up their own rules or use existing ones. If you don't like it... there's a Pro10 thread and a Pan car thread on this forum... :nod:

So first up... 200mm bodies. So far we have HPI and Protoform. I'll have to run through them and see what we got along with other companies out there. Plus a review of actual GT series cars. If you know them off the top of your head, please list them here.

I know the Porsche 911 GT3 has pretty much been all over endurance racing in some form or another (HPI made a 200mm version)
