Hey quick one for ya'll, does anyone know if the alluminum steering knuckles from a M05 will work for a M03L?? local hobby shop has spare knuckles for the 05.... thanks

if im not mistaken, you will have to put the left on the right and the right on the left.

i have them on my M03 swift

fit perfectly

even parts for the M03 and instructions for fitting to the M03

i used the M05 5mm balls and lowered my servo 3mm so it touches the chassis plate on the bottom and this removes a lot of the bump steer

You'll need new bearings too, the ones that fit in the alloy ones are smaller than the kit bearings.

Think you need 1050s whereas the kit arms use 1150s.

That's just the way they work, the m03s, m05s and m04s are quite different machines, these bits have the hardware and instructions to install in any of them.

They're no more wrong way round on m05s than they are right way round on m03s.

The latest diffs still fit a M03?

Yes they still fit the M03. No changes were made to these diff.

I am looking at MM and Spice molded inserts to use with Tamiya 60D tires.

Am unsure about the sizing - do the MM ones fit; which Spice size is right 5 or 5.5?



And is my ordering of the below correct from hard to soft?

5.5 for the 60Ds, though they might not quite fill the tyre, and those buggers wear hard on the inside seam if they're not stuffed to within an inch of thier lives.

Not sure about the soft to hard order of the Tamiya tyres as I've never really used any apart from the 60D slicks for a little extra top end.

Looks about right for the hard to soft order for Tamiya tyres. For the M grip and S Grips, I have only fitted the hard Tamiya foam black insert and used on carpet, not asphalt or painted concrete surface. However others use the M grips and kit tyres on low traction surfaces in Canberra.

The Spice 5.5 and 5mm inserts will not fill the Type A's unless you add a foam insert as well. Some use touring car c sorex inserts complete with the foam against the rim.

I have doubled stuffed before (even with rolled toilet paper once! :eek::smile: it did work!) but its such a crap, and unsatisfying process solution - it's impossible to get a good balanced fill.

Touring car inserts are all moulded, fit well, and are simple. Why do Tamiya M chassis tire users have to suffer this crap roll up a foam line and glue / stick and hope it sits okish? Blah! :rolleyes:

So, looks like trying 5.5 and seeing if that is ok or roll, stick and hope with the tamiya hard m chassis insert foam lines.

It's a pain in the butt, I agree, but not that difficult. You just have to roll your finger inside the tire until the foam sits nice and even all around (don't overlap ends) and then add the TC car insert. The other way around is a bit more iffy because of the tapered insert edges. I cut the TC car inserts to size and glue the ends head on with rubber cement (AKA shoe goo). I cut them obliquely (like the foams), not square.
