its a great speedo, but definitely overkill for a M05 like Official recommended, get a FX Pro - its smaller, faster, smarter :) (Couldn't resist a promotional plug  )In all seriousness, you don't need anything more then the FX Pro for a M0x chassis :) |
what parts to do I need to extend my M03? I need to fit the 06 cooper body.

The actual part number is 0005798 (D parts) but these are notoriously hard to get hold of.
I did a quick search and m-chassis.com (http://www.m-chassis.com) has them in stock. Not sure about anywhere closer to you though. |
Just wondering can you buy the original 3x32mm turnbuckle and the suspension shaft screw? Are there part numbers for it?
Also trying to look for an inexpensive screw set for the M03, any recommendation? Titanium is a bit out of my price range right now. |
Thanks , grub screws?
In November I posted up asking for some help with my old M01. I rebuilt the old bus (I race with a splitty VW swb shell) using Cals tips, and to my complete shock the bus was TOTALLY transformed and I moved from 2 years of B main/occasional last in A when the field was small, to SIXTH overall A main with two six places and one 7th in the 3 races of the day.:nod::sneaky:
Thanks ! I couldn't believe how the bus was going. The organisers came to check the car that I wasn't cheating. It was transformed. :) I took the bus to the December race but sadly the strain of real grip proved too much for the old plastics and every heat saw something else break. So this year I am starting with my new M05, build about to commence. Q: when you use hop up TRF shocks what length/type of ball connectors do you use to attach them to the chassis? (the kit shocks attach with screws) With the spacers shown in the instructions 5x8mm hex head ball connectors should fit the bottom arm/shock mount postions, but the top front uses a 3x18 screw normally  so how do you mount the ball connector? :weird: With a long grub screw and a hex head ball NUT or ... ? I gather it's like Cals solution to the steering arm mount - long grub screw and ball nut, rather than ball connector? bit stumped. Don't want to waste money buying the wrong parts to fix the shocks on. |
Shangrila,
On the MO5 I use a 5x 8mm ball stud with the 3mm plastic spacer for the top of the front shocks and a 5 x 5mm ball stud on the front a arm. These were the low friction type ball studs. The rear I used 5 x 5mm top and bottom. My car is built in the MO5L configeration. For a MO5M or MO5S the front will stay the same and the rear will use a 5 x 5mm ball stud on the top and a 5x 8mm bottom with a 2mm spacer. That is what I am using on both of my MO5's with no problems. I did replace the plastic spacers with alloy spacers for that bling look.:) I still have a a couple of the MO1's, one with all of the GPM hopups and the other standard. One day I will rebuild them and post some pictures. They will not get raced as parts, especially the rear chassis sprue is hard to get. I still have a HPI gear set for the car, which I must try. Hope that helps, Regards, Calvin. |
