M04
Is anyone having problems with chassis tweak on the M04M? I replaced the kit servo saver which reduced the problem somewhat. Besides not hitting every board on the track , is there anything else that can be done to fix this problem?

what servo saver do you guys use? Also has anyone used ceramic balls for the diff? I have a TA03F ball diff I am building.
|
I am using the Kimbrough large. You have to drill to two extra holes a little lower in it though.
I have been using the tungsten diff balls, and I polish the diff rings before assembly. I have been using 30wt oil all around (two hole), HPI radials front, and HPI x-patterns in the rear. Both have HPI green inserts trimmed to fit the smaller diameter. Ride height at SoCal is 5 front, and 6mm rear. I also set the tweak on the car, even though I get harassed for it.... have all the electronics stufts inside the rear part of the chassis too. Hope this helps. |
jw are you using a TRF damper?
|
Yeah. I did build them with two o-rings in the front, and one o-ring in the rear. Use the equivilent plastic spacers, and you'll be good to go.

I bought my car used. It came with red and white springs, anyone know which one is stiffer?
Do I really need the carbon gear shaft? does it make a difference? |
Tamiya Mini Springs:
Red-Soft Blue-Med White-Firm So the white is firmer or stiffer than the red. The only advantage to the carbon fiber gear shafts is overall car weight saving. The shafts themselve don't a actually rotate they just hold the bearing for the gears. |

What's the best tire/insert combo for Trackside?
Thanks |
Is this TCS legal
I just modified the steering part so it has more caster.
I use my old optional part 53226 RC Aluminum Front Hub Carrier (1/10 4WD/FWD Touring Car). Can I use it for TCS ? http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/rcmnx/m2.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/rcmnx/m1.jpg |

I'd send an e-mail and photo to Tamiya USA, attn Fred Medel to get an official answer, but my guess is that it would not be legal. Their rules state that the part has to be from (or a designated option part for) the chassis it's used on. Since the Mini never had a carrier option... |

The tire combo for Tracside in Milwaukee is: Fronts, "S" grip stuff with inserts to make them firm. This can be done a number of ways. Rears, "M" grip with normal Mini black shaped inserts. My son Matt and I race Mini's every Tuesday night, we would be happy to help and answer any set-up questions you have on Mini's. |
Thanks Steven,
I just finished my Mini yesterday. I'm going to practice at Trackside today. I can't wait. |
Ryan,
Good luck, come on down Tuesday night and race with us. I sound like a game show host. |
