Tamiya body?

Odd if so, wouldn't have thought tamiya would make a RWD car on a FWD chassis.

Maybe it will be RWD?

Odd to see the Datsuns conspicuously missing from tamiya's lineup of cars, by the way (the 510 would probably sell like hot cakes). And odd to see this one released on the mini platform too. Perhaps they want to use their older molds used for the plastic models?

Is there any RWD configuration for the M05 platform at the moment?

cannon 09-30-2009 09:09 PM

Interesting the picture says 12th scale !!!!

mcdogboy 09-30-2009 09:40 PM

I was wondering how a 280zx was gonna fit an m05 at 1:10 scale.

Odd.

Moxy 09-30-2009 10:52 PM

1:12th scale on a short wheelbase..

it's still pretty sexy, but the rear body posts will stick out like sore thumbs on that body, unless they a) supply shorter posts or b) expect you to cut yours down to fit.

I like that "driver included", i hope he drives better than I do.. or pump him full of lead (weights) and sit him mid-ships like a McLaren F1 config..

What's the four capacitors used for?
gashuffer,

To make my car look fast.:lol: Just kidding.

"This 4 Super Capacitor board allows your Esc to run cooler and more efficiently."

I have this fitted to both of my mini's. I think it looks trick.

Regards,

Calvin.

Is that for real or a prank?

Because it seems like a very un-Tamiya release. Wrong wheel drive. And that body is a poor representation.

Decide for yourself.

HERE is where it came from.

With the 3Racing speed gear set, you only need to change the spur gear. The secondary gear they have is the same as the Tamiya item. The problem is that a 20 tooth pinion can be fitted to the motor, but placed in the 16 pinion hole on the chassis. The gears are a different white colour to the Tamiya item. So Teching should be easy.

Personally for us here in Aust, I think you will know if someone is using them, as they will be faster than normal, especially with using the Hobbywing systems.

Yes I have a set, not fitted to my car, but will build a car for the TITC in Bangkok next year, which has open gearing, using Tamiya sport tuned motors. My major worry is that the motor will not last due to the heat from gears and the ambient temperature in Bangkok. These will be hand out motors.

Have a great day.

Calvin.

Tobee Craft makes a nice alloy 36T spur for the M chassis cars which I have and will be fitting in my M04.

Looked on 3racing website, their diff looks alot like this.
Only they use 2.4mm ball and probably a crap thrustwasher like on the M03 diff.
Tested the M03 diff from them and it was the best diff i have ever used for 2 batterypacks, that's how long the thrustbearing lasted. Got a new thrustbearing sent from 3racing, refitted it and tested again. Same story, 2 batterypacks and the car sounded like it had vario-matic transmission. Then i tested with a thrustbearing from TA05MS, and it was no more problem with thrustbearing. Now the diff carrier melted.
So, my advise is not to get any gear parts from 3racing.

But in my eager to get a non TA03 diff to test i have gone and ordered the 3racing one. :weird:

Will post back as soon as i know how it's like.... My guess is it's as bad as the M03 one. :p

3Racing has two different ball diffs for the M chassis cars, an aluminum one and a heavy duty one.

"If I was to advise a beginner to intermediate driver, I’d say buy the M03, it’s better value for money and is just as fast as an M05. For the faster more experienced drivers, perhaps you need an M03 AND an M05 so you can make up your own mind."

great comment from www.RC-mini.net

exactly what i feel....thanks for confirming this..

as both my cars have traction rolls issue...:)

any comment on xevo?

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-tl0...th=595_744_707

which personally feel that it has no m chasis characteristic in it, only build for speed as it can fit a 26t pinion....

M03 vs. M05

I'll preface this post by saying that I'm in no way trying to start an arguement or counter what other folks with WAY more experience than I do have found. This is just MY experience ;)

I found that the M05 does not traction roll nearly as easily as my well set up M03 did. With good sticky tires (like RP 30's) and a ham fist I can get my M05 to traction roll...but it takes some effort!

I don't think my M05 is really much (or any) faster than my M03 but it took considerably less effort to get it to be this fast. I'm running the kit setup (admittedly with TRF shocks) with 42g of extra weight and RP 36 tires along with a tight TA03 ball diff and the car is fantastic...fast out of the corners, no traction roll and very easy to drive.

Just my $CAD 0.02!

Cheers,
Mike

It's gotta be for the $$$$

Surely there are some excellentboptions of a small, old school fwd car that tamira could have gone with. But this will sell nicely against the 240Z invasion from hpi and co.

Still ugly-think I'll be passing on this offering!

Are you racing indorrs Hyper Mike? Carpet?

You can tighten up the ball diff by, well, tightening it up.

Jim

i assume it is a gear diff if more people join the club then il probs get a ball diff but thanks for the answer:)
