Since the M05 was first announced, we at rc-mini reckoned that the whole thought process behind the car was mainly just to allow the fitment of lower profile bodyshells.

Odd to see the Datsuns conspicuously missing from tamiya's lineup of cars, by the way (the 510 would probably sell like hot cakes). And odd to see this one released on the mini platform too. Perhaps they want to use their older molds used for the plastic models?

Is there any RWD configuration for the M05 platform at the moment?

1:12th scale on a short wheelbase..

it's still pretty sexy, but the rear body posts will stick out like sore thumbs on that body, unless they a) supply shorter posts or b) expect you to cut yours down to fit.

I like that "driver included", i hope he drives better than I do.. or pump him full of lead (weights) and sit him mid-ships like a McLaren F1 config..

Yes I have a set, not fitted to my car, but will build a car for the TITC in Bangkok next year, which has open gearing, using Tamiya sport tuned motors. My major worry is that the motor will not last due to the heat from gears and the ambient temperature in Bangkok. These will be hand out motors.

Tobee Craft makes a nice alloy 36T spur for the M chassis cars which I have and will be fitting in my M04.

3Racing has two different ball diffs for the M chassis cars, an aluminum one and a heavy duty one.

which personally feel that it has no m chasis characteristic in it, only build for speed as it can fit a 26t pinion....

M03 vs. M05

I'll preface this post by saying that I'm in no way trying to start an arguement or counter what other folks with WAY more experience than I do have found. This is just MY experience ;)

I found that the M05 does not traction roll nearly as easily as my well set up M03 did. With good sticky tires (like RP 30's) and a ham fist I can get my M05 to traction roll...but it takes some effort!

I don't think my M05 is really much (or any) faster than my M03 but it took considerably less effort to get it to be this fast. I'm running the kit setup (admittedly with TRF shocks) with 42g of extra weight and RP 36 tires along with a tight TA03 ball diff and the car is fantastic...fast out of the corners, no traction roll and very easy to drive.

Just my $CAD 0.02!

Surely there are some excellentboptions of a small, old school fwd car that tamira could have gone with. But this will sell nicely against the 240Z invasion from hpi and co.

Still ugly-think I'll be passing on this offering!

i assume it is a gear diff if more people join the club then il probs get a ball diff but thanks for the answer:)
