They outlawed the mini bodies for the 2016 worlds. The winner this year was running the RX7 body.

Tamiya Worlds 2016 question: What happend to all the BMW Mini bodies. Did they outlaw the bodies? I think the winner used a Mazda MX-5 body.

Where can you get an RX7 body for the mini?
|
Do a search for Tamiya 51451 and pray one pops up in stock somewhere, or buy one of the aftermarket shells. No praying required.

Took me about 9-10hrs (around 3x3hr sessions):D Though it has to be said that it was my first ever kit, I double checked all the screws before installing and had to do a couple of things twice as I noticed I had messed up..
A couple of days ago I received my order from RCMart. Some wheels, tires, spares and a couple of hop-ups - and a Christmas present! Promised myself I won't play with it before the holidays;) I put on some golden racing numbers on my new mini, and tried a brand new set of wheels/tires. I do love the Alfa wheels! However, when I'll get a gold spray can, that black mini will be sporting a set of golden minilites. I painted a set once.. Unfortunately after a few runs they start to chip. I love that Alfa body, -i've always liked the vintage bodies.
Bummer about the JCW mini body, -I have a few new in bag still in my garage ...was going to paint one for this next 2017 season, but may wait. Wondering if they'll be allowed at club events, -or if it will be enforced. The JCW mini body was what pretty much everyone ran at our events. Time will tell! |
So, nobody makes a long (239mm) wheel base body anymore?
|
The LWB body options I have found. They are still made.

http://www.tqrcracing.com/shop/produ....asp?p_id=5734 http://www.tqrcracing.com/shop/produ....asp?p_id=5413 I'm hoping that Tamiya would come up with some type of replacement for their long chassis M05/6 cars. Everything else is short or medium length. |

But it was just stated that Tamiya has discontinued production on both bodies because of BMW.

the Mazda is a mid wheelbase setup?
..and I just looked on eBay, the several JCW mini bodies that are for sale are asking $150 each!!! -I am not going to be so eager to open the ones I have sitting in my RC closet. |

Hang on, that one is discontinued too. Why would they allow that but not the Mini?
https://www.tamiyausa.com/search.php?q=51451 This is the same way I replace my Alfa Giulia Spring bodies.. buying them separately. Why Tamiya discontinues the body sets, will always be a mystery. |

After looking at pics of it, this may be the body of choice to replace the BMW mini bodies. |
