ha, about a month ago you could pick up the JCW body for about $30 ...now on fleaBay they can't be had for less than $45. Looks like people have caught on that they are discontinued.

You can find both the Cooper S and JCW on fleaBay and Amazon though ...your just going to pay more.

Good question. Think the NSX was disallowed for that same reason, but can't be sure. Run silent run deep, good luck.

OSherman 07-21-2016 12:54 PM

You can run 'discontinued' bodies at TCS events..

unless the rules specifically say you can not..

NSX and EBBRO were ultimately ruled out for similar but different reasons (performance advantage and to get more variety back into the field because they both were the body to have. at one time we literally had an NSX-Cup and EBBRO-cup race in both GT1 and GT2.. NSX being the most 'popular' and 'winningest' ever)... TAMIYA makes a lot of different bodies. I think they wanted to see more of them used at the events...

they were not ruled out because they were discontinued... from what I understand.

-As always OSherman, I appreciate your info on this. And good to know that i can run the body I am used to running for quite some time! :)

Heard Tamiya ended their licensing agreement with BMW. We cannot use BMW bodies (e.g. BMW mini cooper) in upcoming regional race in Korea.

So this is the beginning of the end of Tamiya.

I am so glad shoei gave us a heads up. I was able to secure a handful of bodies and replacement decals.
Considering I will never be able to buy these Rover Mini bodies ever again, just had to stock up before all was gone. :D

Might feel pricey now, but 10-15yrs from now I would be very glad I got them.

Not sure if you're asking, but it would be a pretty large leap to go from discontinuing a deal with a single manufacturer to the end of the company, or a product line, or whatever we're worried about. Look at this as a new beginning. Maybe they'll come out with a first gen Civic to replace the OG mini! Plenty of fish in the sea and all that.

When it comes to the actual Rover/BMW shells, the Rover Mini was never really optimal for running 60d tires with a low body height and BMW has discontinued the backwards baseball cap JCW thing due to low sales and possible embarrassment created by designing something so awful..

The prospect of racing a Lada or Yugo is exciting.

Sarcasm monkeyracing sarcasm. And definitely was not asking for your opinion.

sakadachi 07-23-2016 04:12 AM

That was sarcasm too just in case..

KA2AEV 07-23-2016 04:30 AM

But If we are going to race Yugo's, where will get the parts from???:lol::lol::lol:

sakadachi 07-23-2016 09:03 AM

I'd be down for a Ford Festiva, but the Lada is tempting.

Does sarcasm cancel sarcasm, or is it doubling down?

KA2AEV 07-23-2016 11:09 AM

WOW That's Deep! I didn't think it was possible to have an intellectual conversation on here!
Man That has me thinking, If you are sarcastic about something and then sarcastic again about the same subject, does it cancel and mean you mean it or does the sarcasm just continue?
Its a good thing Im on duty right now. I think im going to ask a few the guys I work with and see what they say!!!
Can't wait to see their faces on this one!!!

howardcano 07-23-2016 11:42 AM

That reminds me of a college math professor that was talking through a problem on the blackboard. He got to one step where he canceled two negative signs, and then observed that while two negatives can make a positive, he could not think of a situation where two positives made a negative... To which a voice from the back of the room sarcastically replied: "Yeah, yeah..."

Jim, I have no idea where you got that photo, but I am awestruck.
