If anyone is debating coming to the OMAHA TCS over the expense of the change to brushless, let me know. I am more than willing to loan out a brushless system to you.
. . . . . . Those of you battling it out over motor a or b, don't sweat it so much! Its just MINI class. Mini really is the fun class in Omaha! None of the serious racers run Mini here! |

This sounds great Jason! I've got an extra 21.5 motor too that I would loan out.

What happened to the days when we had a lot more minis? I would LOVE to see those days come back. FWD Mini is the best class for bumper to bumper racing for fun. Better than VTA. You can rub a LOT in a FWD chassis. Especially when we had yellow flags. Even when I was serious I loved it. I new as soon as the leader was about the lap the pack - Yellow! It was kinda fun to sandbag until the first yellow too..... |
Anybody recall what the mini FDR is?
|
5.8, with a 20t pinion.

You're mistaken about the FWD though, that's just wrong on ANY car! LOL |

I don't (yet) have a Thunder Power, so I don't know how high the scale goes. But I do have a Kill Shot, the scale goes to 70*, so you can't start at ~70* and go from there. The rules say "end of scale" max. It's a smooth, quiet motor, but not as fast as some others that have shown up at the Tamiya track recently. If you go DOWN from 70*, it goes slower. I've been trying to order a 12.3 rotor for it, but Trinity's website doesn't seem to work for me.
With a Novak, unless you can rotate the end bell WAY past the end of the scale, it's a dog. Oh, what to do? I just saw on the TQ site that TP scale goes to 50*. Thanks |

Well which 21.5 would you suggest at this time?
Thanks I practice with Craig every week, so presumed to answer for him. We're at the same place in our search for a motor. |

I assume that only applies to classes that are FDR limited?
I'm usually around 30 in my non-mini classes! But I am still on the regular Revtech too. Is the killshot that much different? http://www.trinityrc.net/2013/09/jim...p-of-the-week/ Always check your motor temperature. Timing is like a cliff that can plunge your motor in to the depths of hell! If you step over the edge. The tendencies of most racers is to advance, then advance more as the car runs faster, and if a change isn’t noticed after another adjustment, some will advance even more. At the point no change is noticed, you are firing the pole on your motor too soon and building heat, much like a detonating or pinging in gas motor. At this point, you are going to damage it without taking timing out. Always a better option, turn the timing back down and gear up. This is what I have done over the years! |
I currently have a Killshot in my mini as well. Mine is the RPM version and can't wait to run it against CraigMBA for comparison against his motor. To me this motor seems pretty quick and easily the fastest my mini has ever gone.

3/30 TCS event
So does this mean we"ll have a large Nor Cal contingent at the March Aliso Viejo event again? That would be good!

And yes, I hope so. I'm on the fence for how many classes. |

I can't speak for others... for me anything beyond the Orange Curtain blends into Nor Cal based on my geographic challenges. I'll add it to my list of issues.

They go to 80*...
http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...ot-motors.html The motor is very touchy for timing. At ~72 it has nothing, at ~76 it's fast... Correct me if I'm wrong? |
