Here in the states for the longest time Tamiya USA didn't stock the long ball for the M03. So we were able to use shims/ spacers if it was similar in height.
They stocj the part now, so I'm sure it will go back to having to use the original part. But again tech at the regioanl level is hit and miss. Ask your local TCS site on how they feel about it.

Are there any issues with removing the bump steer on an M04 by lowering the steering servo and using a different steering saver than the kit one? I actually haven't used my car yet, just built it and noticed the huge angle change in the steering. Is it even something I should be worried about?

I use the Hop Up Tamiya servo saver. and I use the stock Servo mount, but I flip the back one over as to alow the servo to sit flatter. if you look at the mount one side is flat (use in rear ), and the other side has a raised area (use in front`mount the screws on this side).

Actually, the car with Dave Beale's setup handled great at the Tamiya America track....massive bumpsteer and suspension slop to boot :) Just trying to guage if eliminating the bumpsteer was worth playing with at all.

A new swift is about $120 and you need 4 11x5 bearings and 2 8x5 bearings to complete it and a set of oil filled shocks. you should be good othere than tires.

Like Troy said, here in the USA they don't necessarily bonk you on the unreasonable stuff. I ran my Mini at the Nats this past year using a long screw, two spacers & a ball end. Same height as the stock piece. Passed Fred's muster.

They're REALLY anal about scrutineering, AND...the Mini winner doesnt get the trip to Japan either.... :flaming:

For a country that is suppose to be easy going, I've found a lot of people there are anal about all sorts of things. The police are the worst.

In the case of TCS its just the local distributor thats the problem..

The people that run the event are great, but suffice to say that the local distributor and myself (and a lot of other people) have some 'history' Ha! But that's cool, I just dont go in the event - easy!

I was back in Australia in October (I'm actually an Aussie) and a lot of the people I spoke to had some less than nice things to say about the Tamiya distributor. Apparently you can't even get the 415 there anymore? Interesting that they run a dedicated series for racing but no longer sell their high end product.

Oh well, back to the Mini.

What cause gearbox teeth to chip off on mini? I’ve replaced them heaps of times in last few races, I’m talking once every 2-4 meeting. Wasn’t like this before. I’ve checked pinion and diff but no damage at all. Just middle gears and I can’t see any rock or any thing like that inside. I’ve tried –lube gears – no lube –silicon splay all same result. I use gear diff build as per instruction with AW grease inside (not tight at all)

a crash is all it takes, so dont crash :lol:
