Yup I'm a bass player and I've spotted the similarities al over the place :)

Looks like I might have found some old FM KO receivers o no need to upgrade just yet.

Nice, I play keys.

Keep at it with the FM KO.

There are a few of us drummer types here. Being suspended (from the forum) should be the least of your worries.

A bunch of GT12 parts turned up today, tempting not to throw them all into my M05 :)

I also moved the ESC over to the right hand side to offset some of the motor weight. I really want to shorten some of the wires, its a terrible mess.

Where did you guys get your M05v2R's from already? I'm hoping if I build one it'll spark my interest again in the Mini class.

antlockyer 04-07-2016 08:38 AM

M05 how much servo travel do you guys have dialed in i.e. the percentage on your transmitter. I feel like I have to take a whole bunch out of mine to stop it overpowering the steering setup if that makes sense? Looks like it goes way too far.

No but I'm probably the only over 40 guy in the UK that doesn't. I'm currently using my KO ex10 from 1996. New car means a new receiver and those 40mhz ones are hard to find here now, plus I'm getting a bit fed up with the giant aerial. "Ant look out you'll have someone's eye out with that".

I'm just trying to decide how much to spend. The DX4C from Spektrum does all I need and I'm sure it's am upgrade to the KO.

I still use the EX-10. Excellent radio. Been using it for almost 10 years.

I have one with a Spektrum module and data pack that I use for all my offroad cars, and a special edition Eurus that runs all my on-road cars. Then I have a couple extra for spares...

that's kind of a tough question for a specific answer...

you should adjust the end points (EPA) so that you get full throw (to that side) and don't hear the servo straining any longer - hopefully that makes sense :)

then once you have both the left and right EPAs adjusted and if your radio has dual rate, you'll want to dial the dual rate down from 100%. dual rate adjusts both the left and right sides evenly. on carpet, you might have it set down as long as 60-80%, but on asphalt, it would most likely be closer to 100%.

i know its kind of vague, but it'll get you where you need to go.

if you don't have a radio with dual rate, that alone (along with expodential) is enough of a reason to upgrade to a new one. I read the comments about a better radio won't necessarily make you a better driver, but better tools (at your disposal) makes working to be a better driver easier.

I won't buy a radio if it doesn't offer dual rate and expodential settings.. most of the other settings don't give the average electric racer any kind of advantage.. but expo for steering and throttle/brake can make a squirrelly car a whole different beast

totally agree about the EX-10. I have the helios version and it was the single best investment I made since i upgrade to my M8 many years ago.
