i'm trying to find a new body for this outdoor season and i'm thinking about getting the new MX-5 body - has anyone tried one of these yet? if so, how did you like it?

i currently have the CRX and wanted to stay with the M wheelbase - also have a Fiat 500 body i was thinking about trying as well... any thoughts on this one?

thanks!

3x6mm set screw, AJ. Although, I'm sure no one would be upset if you ran some closer to 25mm-30mm in length.

Hey Dan, great info!! BTW where is Spec-R located? Is this a Chinese company? I have no idea. Regardless, please keep me posted on the pricing and availability.

Any double deck CF m-chassis (especially 4WD), please keep me posted. You guys know I have a thing for CF m-chassis. :p
I expect no less from modern RC companies. ;)

I had the MX-5 body on my friends M05VII last week. It handled well and was fast. I beat my own fast lap by 0.1s. It looks really good too.

The Mx-5 is medium wheelbase??
I was considering it to replace the JCW body I usually run ...but noticed the wheelbase was medium so decided against it. Although it does look nice and looks like it would handle well ...low to the ground and tires tuck under body nicely.

Hey, I am trying to get a fan mount for my M05VII that directs the air towards the endbell of the motor. I think it will be more efficient/better cooling than how I have the fan now mounted on the steering rack and only directed towards a small portion of the motor (that sticks out of the chassis).

I found this:

Anyone know if this will work w/ our M05's? Is there enough motor sticking out of the chassis for this to grab onto? Also, is this TCS legal?? -Rules seem vague to me in regards to fan use and fan mounting ...

My solution was to fit a bigger fan. This is a 34mm fan with 30mm mounting points, it is the yokomo version of the WTF Turbofan. It's taller than standard fans so I needed to fit a spacer beneath the fan mount to raise it up. Great fan, moves far more air than the 3Racing set up i used to run.

Okay question
The blue mount that the fan is mounted on, where did you get that?
Seems like a great idea considering when we run its in the summer
and its hot!

I am running a 30mm WTF fan which pushes a ton of air ...yeah, going to make my own mount -yet I love that one you have.

Jeez, Sakadachi. I slagged you with a Gilmore Girls reference and got nothing back. I'm disappointed.

I'm really surprised there aren't a million copycats of this fan out there by now. It's not really a new design, just a new application. The trouble is all the ones that existed previously were for specialist applications and they're hard to find. Or, they're much larger and run on 110v.

Is this one any cheaper than the WTF?

marcos graveyar 03-11-2016 12:58 AM

The mount is homemade from a piece of a front suspension mount from an Ofna Ultra MBX that I had lying around. Didn't take long to make. (may fall foul of the TCS rules or are fans and their mounts free)

I got this for the princely sum of $12.60. ;)

Just picked up the m05 ver R
Slightly more expensive than the ver2

Pretty excited about it though i haven't touched the m chassis cars since building it a while ago

Not sure if it allows for different chassis lengths but if so, i will build it as a medium length kit and possibly changing the v2 to a short chassis length (to fit my alpine body)

You're talking about kit 84424 M-05 Ver.II R right? I didn't think it was out yet. I don't see why it wouldn't support building the 3 different lengths.

 Sorry I didn't see that! :D Yeah, I'm doing great, thanks for asking.

Been just super busy getting my real car hobby started for the season (just recently picked up a new STI to add to the stable, passed on the MX5 this time) and also with business trips back and forth. I just got back from a business trip a few days ago.

I've mentioned this in my blog page (visitor page) that I've not driven my RC cars since the last week of January. :weird: I hope to get back soon once things settle down a bit.

TCS rules have always seemed a bit vague to me in several areas, one being fans and fan mounts. It seems everyone uses a fan at my club (which follows TCS rules), so I have been using one too. I haven't seen anyone do this at my club, but seems that people cut their chassis a bit and/or remove the "handles" on the chassis ...ive seen this online a lot, -is that TCS legal? If so I am about 10grams overweight and would gladly remove some un-needed plastic from my chassis.
