I actually was in the #1 for the entire race but our best driver caught me in the last 10sec's of the race and took #1 from me.

It's taken 2 years of tweaking my car and practice to achieve this. Finally! I thought the top spots were unattainable, not any more.

Two things I did from the previous race that helped me a ton,
1) put a stronger fan near my motor (which kept my motor temps at 135ish and thus my car ran strong the ENTIRE race)
2) Switched my rear hubs from 3degree to 1.5degree (which definitely gave me more speed on the straights).

okay, wanted to share this as its been all of your help that has got me here. (thanks)!
Congrats!

thanks guys.

I've been feeling that my setup was pretty close for awhile, but yesterday everything really came together. Just hope Tamiya doesn't come out w/ a M05 V3 anytime soon, otherwise that will throw me off again!

Should get the SabreFD Mini next, and benchmark that.

I'd say we're 4.5 yrs away from the next fwd update. I've been hoping to see something in the rwd side of the family, but they ever really do that well, unless piloted by someone with patience and instinct. It even varies car to car. I love the way my m04 drives, but never got a handle on the 06.

Just received some goodies in the mail. The FDR in my M03 conversion is now 3.4. Time to cook some motors.

Anyone know if Tamiya released any coupon codes through their newsletter?

I've been checking their site from time to time, no codes as of yet. Last year, I think I saw a few codes by October....?

Please post up the codes if you have them, thanks.

Default Well done :-)

Well done on the result, I would be interested to know what fan you switched to? Apologies if I missed in previous posts.

Thanks and regards
Dave

I was running a "3racing" fan 30x30mm, with timing turned up + the 3 racing fan my car was reaching about 155- 160degrees in temps.

I switched to a yeah racing fan 30x30mm, with timing the same my motor temps were about 140.

The 3Racing fan was about $5, the yeah racing one was $10. -a tad more $$ but it really pushes a lot more air.
Here is the fan I am currently using:
http://www.tqrcracing.com/shop/produ....asp?p_id=2335

BUT now I am convinced that certain fans are better than others, AND will be exploring other options as well to see if there is a better one that can get my motors even cooler. I also run a sedan class and that motor could really use a stronger fan as it is running a tad hotter than I'd like.

..i'll add that I just got my race results and I can see where my lap speeds were slowing by a fraction of a second or so from about mid-race to the end. This tells me that the motor could still run a bit more efficiently. So yes, going to continue looking at what I can do to keep the motor cooler.

Have you ever felt there was a void in your life, but had no idea what it was that was missing? Well, here's your answer. Tamiya neckties.
