Thanks for the tip. Is there a particular CA/superglue that you recommend, that doesn't go brittle and or destroy the rubber etc?
I have a quick question,
Our club raced w/ the Tamiya Silvercan motors last season and are switching to 21.5t brushless this season. I thought that the silvercans were typically about 27turn, so I was expecting that switching to 21.5t brushless would be a lot, LOT quicker. I haven't had a chance to actually drive my car as I just installed the electronics last night (and am at work today). Giving my car full throttle the front wheels didn't seem to balloon up like I was anticipating (the way I see them on my 1/10th touring car and SCTruck). The wheels seem to spin only mildly faster to me. Granted I get that my TC car is running 17.5 w/ higher gearing and my SCT ..well that is a beast. But was maybe expecting a little more? Also I don't free rev my cars typically, this was during setup where it is required to full throttle forward, reverse etc w/ the esc I have (for calibrating).
I realize that the gearing on the Minis is fixed and thus your not going to get crazy top end speeds, but does this sound correct that a 21.5t is mildly faster than a stock silvercan? ...just wondering if I need to go through and check all my controller settings, esc setting and/or adjust the timing on my motor, etc to find where speed may be not at full potential. ...although everything seemed dialed in from what I recall last night.

...just wanted/needed a sanity check before I go out w/ this setup and start the new season in a few months.
Yeah, i plan on adjusting the timing (if rules allow, not sure that I can do much w/ the ESC ...as we have to run it stock -but will check it out).

Turns between brushed and brushless don't really translate. There are wires and magnets, but the job is handled differently. A 27t brushed motor is "sort of" equivalent to a 21.5t brushless. Add timing to the BL motor andall bets are off. In almost all cases the brushless will have more torque.

This all makes sense. Yes it did seem to have a bit more torque than my brushless ..maybe it was just a feeling I had, but it did appear to move a bit stronger w/ more ooomph.
We ran the Mini class for the 1st time at our local track (CRC Raceway & Hobbies). Although not a huge class, we had a solid group each week for club races. We allowed either stock silver can OR 21.5 blinky. What we typically found was the 21.5 cars had gobs of torque in the twisty infield but lacked the top end the silver can cars had on the longer straights. In the end, laptimes were about the same.
With that being said, I ran an M06 (rwd) for the 2nd half of the season and that car, with a Tekin Gen2 21.5 had both torque and top end. Mostly due to increased traction w/ motor hanging in back of the rear wheels.
The season is over, so for next year we're planning on allowing either motor combo again.
I must say, I had a great time racing the Mini's. Just plain fun and great scale looks.
