I just got a new 21.5 motor (killshot) and it has unlimited timing adjustment. How much timing are you guys running with the standard gearing?
|
Using 20t pinion. I run max timing, 80*. Make sure you use a fan like an R1, or something comparable.

Just a thought on tires. I have my m05 running and handling well my main issue is the front tires spin alot on full throttle acceleration i use tamiya s grips on carpet was wondering if moving to tamiya slicks would help my acceleration traction? And also if it would effect my handling at all? If its gonna make me start traction rolling or something bad i'd rather just deal with the spinning tires. I use a gear diff with 50,000 cst and the orca spark system as per wcics rules up here in canada. Will the slicks give more or less steering. Oh and i have the sidewalls glued on the fronts aswell as the first 1-2mm of tread. Thanks

Justin something else I forgot to mention, is running a hard rear sway bar and no front bar. The idea is to lock down the front of the car, making both wheels work to accelerate the car.

How hot does it get at 80 degrees with a fan? And what's the highest timing you can run safety without a fan? |

Thanks.

Back it down to about 75 on a big track and a little more on a tighter track. Besides on a tighter track, less timing is a bit better. It is still better to run a fan tho. As always, just my opinion. Others may disagree. |
So you are basically running 21.5t boosted in your minis..... No wonder they're so fast...

Mini has gone boosted... Should the motor timing be regulated ??? I think so..... 45degrees max !!!! What do you say????

Hi Justin, I am assuming you mean the inside wheel is spinning on corner exit. Your issue is the diff oil, it needs to be much thicker. I run (from memory its been a while since ive worked on it) 500,000 mugen oil in a 3 racing gear diff. Ive heard of others running 1m also. The CA sounds perfect on the front, and another idea is to run alot of sauce on the front tires. the CA will stop the car from rolling over. S Grips are the tire of choice. A tires are not as quick IMHO.
I was more referring to just in a straight line i get tons of wheel spin it actually exits corners pretty well with very little tire spin. I find running too think of oil in the gear diff takes away to much steering |
On our carpet over here M-Grips are what work best.
