Jmoney, also look into threaded shocks, 3racing are fine if you dont care about tcs legal
I also like the aluminum steering assemble & ball diff. Let me know if you need any other help I will be at the track sunday Nick. |
3racing gear diff
I'm rebuilding my gear diff for the first time ever. I forgot to take note of how it came apart..... Following the instructions it says to put the 1.5mm o ring in the main diff housing over the out drive shaft, but the housing it not recessed. Does the o ring go on, then the 0.3mm shims like that? The shims won't be on the flat surface of the diff housing?? A I missing something?

Mini motor fans
Is it required to use a motor fan on an M-05 when using the ORCA Spark system?
My motor stays really cool when I run the fan, I was thinking the ORCA motor isn't reaching a good "warm" temp during the run/race. SO I'm thinking about ditching the fan? What do you guys think? Thanks Greg G |

Id say ditch it, I'm running the orca system with plastic motor mount and the motor only gets warm after the race.
Sorry, couldn't help myself. |
Hey guys ran my first race with the M-05 today, handled great. But need some more straight away speed. I can't find a Tamiya option for gearing(here or any retailers) up beyond the 20T pinion and stock spur. Do they offer a high speed gear set? I see the Ride and TOP parts but I'd like to keep it TCS.
Also does anyone have any experience with a properly broken in and tuned 540 mabauchi vs. a 21.5T brushless set up? Thanks. |

TCS gearing is stock with a pinion no larger than 20t. The speed gears offered, arent all that good. From what I hear, you are lucky to make them last a few races without issues.
Silvercans will get faster as they break in. There are lots of tricks, but thats another thread. lol. Chris |

A good silver can will spin faster than a 21.5, on average. The 21.5 will destroy the silver can in the torque department. Add timing or boost and it's a different game again.

I think the TCS rules specify that it has to be a Silvercan and CANNOT be a brushless motor
So if you want to keep it TCS Legal you gotta run a Silvercan Unless Im wrong??? :weird: |
For TCS yes it must be Silverman. My track allows a 21.5 as a local rule. I ran a 21.5 today and maxed out on timing it still lacked a little grunt compared to some of the silvers
