Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced servo for a M-05 S-Spec? Should I be looking for speed or torque?

You can try the Bluebird BMS 705MG very well priced.

Take a look at the Hobbypartz servos.

So the Bluebird definitely fits? I'm actually getting all of my kit from RCMart, so it would be great to pick up the servo in the same order

I have it on mine so it fits. It has the dimensions of a standard servo (cross section).

Well, here are the first pics (thanks to tamiyablog) of the new M Four Tamiya 4WD chassis set. Along with what appears to be a (badly fitting) Nissan Silvia shell?

It looks nice, but LiFe power only? Hmmmmm

One has to wonder about Tamiya's fixation on LiFe technology.

The best thing about this car is we're bound to see some new bodies and other bits become available for our real M chassis cars.

i guess the Silvia body is there to show you that the wheel base is close, but not quite?

Thanks, I've whacked that into the shopping cart

I prefer more speed than torque on a steering servo, but others I guess prefer the other way around.

On the minis I don't find that you need the super high speed steering that is why I would prefer the torque servo over a speed servo. As long as the speed is relatively faster than a standard servo it should be ok.

I prefer servos that cost between $10-$20. Throwing a $60 servo in a mini is just silly. If you happen to get an expensive servo for cheap, however, that's a whole different story.

that is true. A servo should not cost your half the price of a mini... I think you have some better parts to buy with that money.

Some work, some fail quicky, some have centering issues, some put hash & noise into the receiver causing RX restarts(I've seen this on my oscilloscope)
I got rid of mine as it made the car (1/10 TC) wander.

Do yourself a favor, get at least a 1/2 descent servo. KoPro, futaba,
or a Savox which are quite a bit cheaper than Futaba & KoPro
