What are people's thoughts on the inboard shock setup on the TA06? I have a pro coming in the mail, and was just curious if there are any advantages other than using low-slung bodies to this setup. Pro's and con's of each? Thanks in advance.

i've got both running side by side

no 'huge' con with IFS on TA06, seems to work like conventional.
I can't tell much difference between either car's handling
that can be directly attributed to the IFS alone (running sedan shells*)

otoh its extra mechanical bits to fail & fall off

*btw "low-slung" shells create more front downforce further forwards
so you'll be retuning the front suspension stiffer to compensate which can
affect cornering handling too... hard to compare JGTC/lemans vs tourer

Right on, thanks for the info WC.
On the topic of stiffening up the front to compensate, how stiff are we talking? (Where did you start?) Thanks again.

I also built (2) TA06 Pro kits, one for me with stand up front shocks, and the other kit for the owner at my Local Hobby shop, with IFS.

I agree, I don't notice any appreciable difference in handling (yet).

Currently, both cars have low track time.

The IFS is smooth, but you'll have to set up the pushrods carefully, (same length) so your geometry is the same left and right.

Tuning IFS, is different from stand up. Example, adding or removing shims at the rocker, changes the mechanical leverage of the shocks. (Haven't got that far playing with the IFS settings)

***Also, before you mount your motor, drill through the motor braces....a 30mm x 30mm cooling fan fits neatly above the motor.

I remember the tuning was definately different when I had raced my F201. Being inboard all the way around, it was just different enough to give you a headache, but once I got the hang of it, I found so many different ways to tune the car. Different way of doing the same thing I suppose.

With this method my front axle is 24mm and the rear is 25mm.
Well : Very good way to measure it... I will check mine.

Thanks

^ I noticed the TRF setup sheets reference this measurement style.

Im not a pro, buy why not just put heavier weight in the front diff to take away some steering ect? (I could be wrong here...)

Default Shimming?

I was reading a post here on the boards (but I forgot what page) where someone has just shimmed their universals. What does that mean, why is it done and how? Is this something I need to do to my kit and will the shims be in the kit?
