Ran the car for the first time today.

something seriously wrong with this car, in my setup anyway.

I have been using a front gear diff in my tc6 lately with 500k oil with comparable results with a spool. So I put 500k in my rear diff by mistake when I built the car thinking it was the front diff I was building. Anyway so first run today, both diffs with 500k oil, the car was spinning out IF I put the power down hard. No problems when running 80%, but who wants to Also noticed going down the straight that it wasnt completely tracking straight, like it had a mind of its own or something. I have been using my electronics for a while in my other car, and never had any glitch problems. I had heard of inconsistent handling from gear diffed cars before, and now I get the feeling I know what people mean.

So I thought this was cos maybe my rear diff oil was way too thick. So I get all the old oil out(take ages), and made sure every bit of 500k oil was removed. Then installed with 2k oil in rear. Car was the same.

car is setup perfect, I use 4 corner weights to adjust balance, and left/right were within grams of each other. Adjusted collars on tweak station and got it well sorted. I use 2mm/3mm droop over ride height on nearly all my cars. Definitely not the tires, as I only used 1 set of tires between the ta06 and my xray and ran them both on alternating runs.

I'm thinking of getting a front spool. Hopefully this will help handling wise. I'm a little disappointed about the ta06 today, considering all the good things I have been hearing on here lately.

One thing you mentioned was you used 3K in the back. You will get spin outs on throttle with oil that thick. Go with 900wt. It will be much easier to drive. Ideally, you want to run a BALL DIFF in the rear. This will eliminate that issue in low traction areas.

I have 75wt shock oil, I gather that is like 750wt......??

will give that a try.

had no problem with my xray on the same track, on the same day.

Also know of the ball diff and seems I'm going backwards with one with the current trend. Maybe gear diffs need a different driving style...., however I'm hoping to make this car work and make this plastic car competitive against all the bling cars

more testing tomorrow.....it's a hard life

750 not 75 shock oil.

I think the stock diff oil is close to 900 or so I've heard, why don't you try that in the rear with heavier weight in the front.

BTW I don't get why Tamiya make diff rings without flat spots nowadays. How are you guys securing them to the outdrive?

Looking for something that will hold up to BL motors but easy to clean when rebuilding with new ones.

Thanks

Schumacher diff rings don't have flat spots, either.

Will there be problems with it slipping?

And does anyone know what size fan the factory holes are meant for (above the motor) 25 or 30mm?

Thanks.

thought of doing this, but seems like someone beat me to it. you can actually adjust the belt tension this way too. Don't hit anything head on though...

Chassis is very soft, and easy to bend rear to front.
That's what inpuressa was referring to ...
Also, it may cause the drive belt to slip on its pulley.
