Like most chassis, for VTA, the best suggestion for setups is to run the baseline stock rubber setup form the manual, or whatever baseline "Team" rubber setup is preferred. There is no magic setup for VTA—most guys are running some subtle variation of the stock kit rubber tire setup, then tuning it to their own driving style and preferences.

+1000

That is EXACTLY where to start, then dial it in to your driving style and track specifics as Doug indicates.

DO YOURSELF THE BIGGEST FAVOR POSSIBLE, invest a whopping $15 (approximately one entry fee most places) in the XXX-Main chassis setup book and read it/use it. It is, bar none, the best spent money for going faster you can throw down. Helps sort out what causes what, etc, as you're dialing the car in. The time you'll save (and speed you'll gain) by NOT "following the herd" or following well-intentioned but equally inaccurate anecdotal information is immeasurable.

THAT is the VTA "hot setup" for any and every chassis

This is not a hard and fast rule. A lot of tracks/races require at least half front tread at the start of the day. The idea is to keep people from running slicks. Most asphalt tracks around here don't get on people too much because the tires do wear much more on asphalt, and a lot of guys save the old tires from the carpet season for outdoors.

How are you guys gearing cyclone tc's? My son has a 109t spur and according to the fdr sheet I need a 66t pinion lol to get a 4.0 fdr. All the HB spurs are really high...think lowest I found was 104t. With it having a 2.4 internal im having a hard time finding a combo to get me at a 4.0 on his car.

Im also curious if I can use a spur from my tc5 in his cyclone.

You can use spur gears from any number of manufacturers. Try Robinson Racing. www.robinsonracing.com. And you ARE familiar with www.gearchart.com, aren't you ??

monkey I have two pan car styled spur gears that wont fit my xray you can have. I think it is a 116 and a 110. If they fit your car you can have them. I will be at hotshots on Wed
