I'll make a couple cases for why the Mustang GT350/GT is included in the mix.
Firstly, I was (kinda) there when VTA was being "invented", and there were VERY few bodies available. No one knew about the Pegasus, the Parmas were (still are) SINFULLY ugly, and I'm pretty sure HPI hadn't released the 'Cuda yet. You think choices are limited NOW...it's chock full o' choices by comparison.
Secondly, the Mustang (out on the track) looks enough like it's "real" TA-legal notchback sister. Everything except the back half of the roof looks exactly the same, front and rear facia, body sides, windshield and side windows. It looks close enough...and I'm considered kinda picky in matters like this. There was NOTHING resembling a Corvette. Period. Now, if there were suddenly a notchback Mustang available (not holding my breath, but IF...) I'd be all for grandfathering in existing Mustang bodies people had done but install a "sunset" provision and get everything moved over.

Hey guys,
Just to let folks know...I've just listed two brand new in package Yeah Racing LiPos for sale at http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...ml#post5421735 . I ordered them and they took WEEKS to get here so I finally had to buy something else. Now they've finally arrived...and I no longer need them.
As has been discussed above, these are the least expensive ROAR-approved (and, thus, USVTA-approved) LiPo available...because they're a complete PITA to get. Here's your chance to get a couple without the wait 'cause they'd ship from HERE.
Thanks,
Scottrik

I know that its hard to get a shell to look right and I would never take away anything from the guys at HPI. This thing looks great. It really is beautiful. ....... But the roof line looks like a Ford Daytona Coupe. I still love it but that is what it looks like.
As far as the bodies thing goes. VTA in itself is a winning combo and should be left alone. But I think the touring car formula is failing the hobby when it comes to attracting new racers. More classes like the VTA and Mini Cooper should be run in more areas. This kind of thing is definitely where we will find our new blood.
I have often come back to the same idea of a class that runs sports car bodies, D compound treaded tires on the rim of your choice, VTA powertrain choices, and Your choice of either: no wing, cosmetic wing, Drift wing, or a severly neutered TC wing. (specifics later) A functioning Touring wing would be out of the question.
An event like that would look like anything that races on the street. Multiple body styles I think would appeal to more people knowing that they could pick what they liked. A VTA car would be legal to run in this class even though these cars would not be legal in VTA. VTA tires are D compound and treaded, thus fitting into the rules.
And again Dont mess with VTA. This is just an idea for a demo race or if a bunch of guys just wanted to do something with a differrent look. Some of us just love cars......

I talked to Dale at Snowbirds about TA also. and basically he said the same to do it right he would need to get a different mold setup, he can't get the undercuts. plus licensing does get hairy being the size company that he is. but he was thinking about the class and how to get bodies that would make the racers happy. we'll have to see.

Well honestly the price the cars are and the demographic of the buyers that have the money to be in this hobby those TA bodies (cuda, old mustangs, old camaros, old Vettes, etc.) would be more suitable than the newer looking drift type of stuff we see so much of. Not that there isnt a market for the new cars but as I look through the pits I dont see drifters I see guys my age that grew up on muscle cars, TA, and Richard Petty.
I also see that people love to watch our class because they can relate to the cars. We actually had people cheering for Ford, Chevy, and Dodge at our last race. Btw Ford won. My 15 year old son likes the TA bodies more than the other bodies. People want realism in their RC.
