best thing you can try is mock one up and try fitting it yourself - probably can make it out of styrofoam or something like that
I'm the one that is going to be painting it. The first one is getting done in the original paint scheme with a different number but in the correct style of numbering as for the rest of the j71 bodies. I have a couple other schemes that I have found that will be done at a later date. I also have some ideas on period correct schemes.

The hard case lipos stick pack fit fine. I have two Enerland lipos which are rectangular lipos. I did raise the height of the top plate and extend the battery holders on each side. I had it rub once. I'm not sure why. I would take the car to a hobby shop and see what batteries fit. In that way you won't be wasting money. Or, if you have friends with different lipos see how theirs fit.

shouldn't be a problem. I am using the zippy 4000 2S in my sprint 2, and there is a little bit of wiggle room still. The problem with a lot of hardcases is the height of the case causing the belt to rub.

DO NOT ASSUME...ASK YOUR TRACK OWNER/MANAGER BEFORE YOU BUY WHAT MAY BE A NON-COMPLIANT BATTERY!!
ROAR-approval of batteries is also a USVTA requirement. Again, if your track doesn't strictly follow USVTA standards you may be golden. If you plan to race at a USVTA event, though, like their upcoming Nats you can pretty well bet you'll be required to use a ROAR-approved battery AND that the 5000mah limit will be enforced.
Food for thought,

is tc4 competitive for vta?
I want to get into vta and have a chance to pick up a fairly new tc4 for cheap. Will this be a good starter vta chassis? I've never raced on road before, only off road and dirt oval.
thx,

Do yourself a favor and pick up one of the tuning guides. Mine is M-power, but the XXX-main book is basically the same. Worth it's weight in gold as you try to unlock the speed in your car. Same information applies to off-road as well, but is much more important for on-road.
