They would probably be legal for VTA at the Indoor Champs. I think the rule book only states that they have to be treaded vintage style tires. Actually, it doesn't specify HPI tires only, or min/max tire widths allowed. They dont list the legal bodies either, just 'trans am era replica type bodies' Hmm, Ford GT-40 body, anyone? Kinda sucks, they have a page and a half of rules for Concourse judging, but the bare minimum for actual class racing rules.

My greatest RC dream is to race Cleveland for the Indoor Champs...even though it's been "dilluted" with Touring Cars and now Vintage TA. GASP!! Yes, I said dilluted with VTA. The Cleveland Champs has been, traditionally, the premier 1/12 event in the country, maybe even the world. Were I to travel there it would be to race 1/12 and 1/12 only. As much as I love Vintage TA racing, I wish sedans weren't at the Indoor Champs.
Alas, that week of the year was ALWAYS (and I do mean ALWAYS) reserved for spending Thanksgiving at the family homestead in N. Idaho with my grandmother. Since she's passed I've lived here in BFE where airfare alone (again, major holiday weekend, busiest travel weekend of the year, NO airlines offer any deals of any kind 'cause they don't have to, etc) is right at $1000. And at 24 hours of straight travel (provided there's not weather to add to that) by car that's just not reasonable. Add to that cool grand for airfare all the other expenses of racing for the better part of a straight week, hotel, meals, etc. Hell, just like real racing the entry fees are the cheapest part of the adventure.
So, unfortunately, the Indoor Champs remain a dream...

Thinking now that a better choice of words would have been "dilluted" rather than "polluted". I'll edit original post to reflect that more precise choice. Only two letters difference but a significant difference in meaning.

fair enough...I would hope all VTA Lovers would try and attend any and all big events...I think it would help bring more focus on our class....the thing that has bothered me lately is the "BAD" rep. vta has got at some big races and even the VTA Nats this year....we need to have a good showing at the US Champs, Birds, and 2010 Nats to provide a different light on the class..other than what ppl think it is.
dont get me wrong, I really dont care personally what ppl think..but when we are still trying to grow a class and make it the best one out there..we need that positive light and good feed back....
