Im not running a carbon shaft yet but im gonna buy one HPI makes one but its kinda hard to get in the U.S.

I know myself and atleast 3-4 other Pro4 racers in my area were running their motor mounts 'cut' with no shifting problems in stock/19T.

Beware!!!!! I used a HPI carbon shaft with an Orion V2 9x1 on tarmac with foams.....in 3 runs it twisted the shaft 1/4 turn.I know of 2 other guys have had the same problem.I put a post on this thread for Thad but he must of missed it.I also emailed HPI USA but never got a reply.They might be okay for stock or19 turn but DO NOT use them for mod.

Thanks Nexus, I assumed the 19t wouldn't have the "gutz" to tweak it too bad, since it can handle mod motors...

I've been running the HPI carbon shaft in my Pro 4 using a 12 turn motor since it came out in the UK and I've had no problems with it twisting (touch wood)

hi rc bros,need your help here. i recently got a pro 4 and finish fixing it. but i cant seem to be able to mesh the pinion and spur gear? i bought the pro 4 32t pinion,and my spur is the stock 98t. my motor is a stock johnsen one. no matter how i adjusted the 2 screws, it jus cant fit well... anyone can help me pls...? my pro 4 is the version 1.1...

Are you certain you have the right pinion? Maybe it's a 48 pitch pinion, your spure should be 64 pitch...

Well, since he bought the pro 4 pinion, then it should be 64 pitch.
Maybe he screwed into the wrong holes on the motor.

When looking from the top, the upper screw should be on the inside hole, and the lower on the outside. I haven't seen a Pro-4 specific pinion. I've seen two sorts of HPI pinions, the black was 48 pitch, the chrome one's are 64...at least at my LHS...just trying to help.

A 12 turn motor is a great deal "softer" than a 9 turn. I bet, if you did what he did and tried a hotter motor, you'd have the same results. The graphite center shaft isn't going to withstand the torque of a low-turn mod. Stick with stock aluminum shaft for low mods, guys.

do this....put a 33T pinion on the motor and tighten it up snug against the spur.

slide the 33T off then put the 32T pinion on.....you should have a decent amount of mesh....set it and forget it.

do you guys use the kit supplied wheel spacers when using the 24mm slick tyres (Sorex 28R)?

i found that my front wheels's hub thread starts to round off after 20 packs or so if i use the spacers but it's okie if i don't use any spacers. I've tried the Hotbodies white rim, tamiya one and another brand and they all have the same problem. My rear wheels seem don't have this problem.. Do you guys have the same problems?

and what is the pros/cons if i don't install the spacers?

Yea I know what your saying, I was just trying to reassure people that with something like a 12 turn motor the carbon shaft should be fine, it depends what sort of motors you classify as being a mod, because at my indoor club the lowest turn motors run are 12's.
