all the details are on www.teamxray.com now. There are loads of changes, but all very subtle

008 comes with a front spool, and the gearing is different from the 007 (pulley teeth, and diff teeth)

Aluminum outdrives actually wear faster than composite when they aren't tamed by a driveshaft cap. The only typical problems with plastic outdrives are flex and durability. That being said, this is probably the most well-thought-out design of plastic outdrives we have seen...the solid design will have minimal flex, and the closed-cup design will be far less susceptible to snapping half the outdrive off.

On the composite diffs, I believe the design has partially been taken from the success of the M18 and M18T. The outdrives hold up much longer than one expects even with insane brushless. In fact, I have not known of one person who has ever had to replace one, while those using metal have.

Yes, I know the car is much smaller and lighter. But the offset is your working with more surface area in 1/10th. So I believe my example still applies.

talked to Burch this week at vegas and he said if everything goes right looking at a november release to the hobbyshops. so december it should be out and then you got to wait for the parts. hopefully full parts support will be ready by snowbirds so I can run one there. but I need a carpet edition 6 cell

The Losi Type R runs a very similar outdrive design. They have no pblms in mod with them. Xray's composites are better than anything out there today, so they will work. They are nothing like the TC5, since the TC5 is different design altogether.

I took a look at the '008 on the Xray website. Those changes look so subtle that it seems it's not going to make much of a difference compared to the older model. Initially I thought it was going to be something more revolutionary than just a slight evolution.

Nice car, i have seen it at euro in live. Very fast laps, but then, old black cyclone did take euro title.
Huddy was making new car only for euro 2007, they create replica of the track at factory! Up to the driver then? Maybe, but don't think that new car will make a big diference, only driver can do that.

I agree. Calling it a T2 is a bit misleading.

Maybe they are savingr the T3 designation for the next big revolution?

How many of you feel that the changes in the chasis are worth the upgrade? Certainly not from the 007 but maybe from the older T2 platform??
