LOL!!! Yeah.... it was one of those Lithium Manganese LiPo Orion packs. That is what the race manager told me.
No bias here, I like Lipo but I have not made the jump. Lipo for the most part has not proven to rival the performance of NiMH. That is all the research I care invest with this new technology... it is still too new and has more growing pains to overcome before it will exceed our demands.
In closing, this latest incident was due to multiple impacts per lap.... braille driving at best. So, in short, the pack was abused.

It's also kind of hard to believe with the sarcastic tone of your post considering you know what company the guy you directed it to works for...

Kujo, calm down. No scarcasm here as it was a very close friend of mine that had it burst into flames while holding it. Get a grip.
Here is the location of where it took place, www.mikeshobbyshop.com, and Mike is the owner/race manager.
And yeah, I have a good idea who Mr.Black is.

Not taking sides one way or the other but stating a fact.

let's hope Trinity hold the prices steady...
http://www.eastpower-batteries.com/o...hp?cPath=21_23
even with the currency exchange rate.. might be a little cheaper...especially in bulk...and i believe this is after VAT tax
TeamHurricane
EP 4200
1.23+ Voltage 420+ Runtime Race Pack $61.99
Promatch
TeamHurrican.
etc..
way under Trinity.
so will matchers keep these prices....

David, To clarify; Chris uses Maxamps 6000 packs. These are the soft packs, Orions are hard cased. Spencer thinks that the drive shaft might have cut into the battery, since this is the same thing that happened on his TC4.(but not with the same dramatic result).
I have used and abused my Orion packs for a year now.
They are tough with a proven safety record.
Thanks, Richard

Your post is reliable as you would have it from the horses mouth. Mike indicated it was an Orion pack. As much as that car hit the boards, it is understandable why it went up in flames. Tell Spencer thanks for the info. I was too busy marshalling to take a closer look.
