I did run on an ice rink of a track today. It was bad. I was told that the track had so much grip guys were traction rolling because they had a new surface. So I ran with Randy's BCR setup on the car. Nothing but donuts. Made a bunch of changes, pretty much no difference. Everyone fights for grip out there but swears it's great. 
Not to mention the rhythm section there is down the back straight. My brand new chassis looks like it's been raced every day for a month. 
Not a good place to try a brand new car. I'm not going to get a chance to race for a few weeks now either so it'll be a while until I get to race on a real track. Hopefully I'll have a gear diff in the car by then too.

Trust me, you don't. Steve should be glad he didn't waste the time and gas to drive down. I think it'd be OK running 10.5 or something slower. But 3.5 is just ridiculous. I could literally hear the tires lighting up around the track like it was a drift car.

kschu - you are correct I run TrakPower 3200 cells with about 150g of lead on the outside as we run a 1500g minimum weight limit. The TrakPowers fit quite tightly without having to remove any of the bulkhead (I have removed a small amount so that it does not interfere with the bulkhead at all).
I have also tried Orion 3600's which also fit with minimal dremelling of the bulkhead.
Both of these cells are fine for 10.5T but I suspect the TrakPower 3200 would be touch and go for modified.

Randy, completely agree with your suspicions that I have too much grip. When I first got the S400 I went looking for grip. To get the extra grip I have;
Raised the front roll center 0.6mm front and rear
Raised the rear roll center 1.0mm front and rear
Changed to the UK top deck
Moved the rear shock out to the furthest hole on the bottom rear
Changed to 2 degree front hub carriers and narrow hexes on the front to to get more turn-in
Do these changes make sense for more grip?
At the weekend this was good but as the temperature came up and the RP30 tyres that I was running started going off at around the 20 lap mark due to track temperature the car actually felt better as it was a bit looser and I was doing my fastest laps.
I realised looking at my car that I had already lengthened the front camber links at the weekend and I am going to try the top deck comparison, the anti-aquat changes and the other things you suggested to see I can get more corner speed/steering.

Butter's home track in Royal Palm Beach, FL is inside a large roller hockey rink. With out VHT, its sometimes like running on ice...but with a light mist of VHT..its great. They always lay down the VHT

A couple gave you more grip and a couple of them probably helped even things out on your setup a bit. Loose cars are harder to drive, but will definately be faster around the track, so for club racing where winning or losing doesn't really matter it might be good to practice with a car that's loose.
