Thunder Power was out and I got one from Draganfly Products out of Canada. They are hard to find.

The Astro Flight 109s most hobby shops can get for you and I have had mine for 3 years.

Mr. Black,
Does the Flight charger have connectors that work with the 3200 and 4800 packs? And what size power supply does it need?

I am not aware of any rule in the ROAR rulebook that bans internal fans like the ones in the GM and Orion BL motors

I highly recommend getting a charger that charges at 8 to 10 amps for the future that will allow you to charge a 4000 to 5000 mah battery at 2C or even the 8000 mah ones at 1C+! The reason I keep mentioning the 8000 mah li-pos is they are the closetest to the same size and weight as a 6 cell nickel pack that will not change anything to do with the handling characteristics of the oringinal design of the car/truck/buggy....just longer runtimes!

I would like to use the 8000mah but our club has put a 4800mah limit and hard case batteries only for right now, we may change things later though. One thing about the 3200 and 4800 Orions, I will be able to get down to weight with my ss13 brushless now.

Craps.. The fan issue in Oval and touring has nothing to due with wrong gear. The issue is speed in those classes as there many times faster than off road trucks .They produce tons more heat in oval and touring. I even saw some top drivers overheat some componets at the regionals running fans. There just on the edge...

Thanks John since my RC experience is all off-road.

I would say li-pos will be legal in some classes next year in ROAR after the Demo Class ran at the Electric Off-Road Nats in Albuquerque, NM. ROAR VP Dawn Sanchez posted this on Trinity Tech Talk:

the lipo demonstration went very well. Although, I was quite perplexed why other BL companies didn't show up to run and show ROAR their motors and give us some instruction on their manufacturing.. but I guess it simply says...

nobody cares. The motors on the list seem to be sufficient. The rules seem to please everybody and there is no need for change.

As for the Lipo inclusion, things are looking good. This was definately a great showcase on the durability of the batteries at an off road event and I'm happy to state that I will present my findings at the next ROAR meeting regarding rules.

Thank you to everyone who came to the nationals and especially those who traveled distances especially for this demonstration. Its good to see the membership speak up for what they want and I can assure you, ROAR is listening.

I think ROAR was shown at this event the dangers of li-pos were blown way out of preportion with internet gossip!!!!
