You heard it here first.

Told ya!

Quite honestly, this is the chance to make a splash. If it fizzles, which I hope it doesn't, then this would not look good for LiPo...

So I guess I'm saying, put up or shut up.

Make it happen at this years Nationals.

You can find info at www.roarracing.com and at www.arcorraceway.com

Maxamps, Apogee, Trakpower, Dura-lite, and possibly FMA are the ones I'm familiar with.

gezer2u, what racing organization do you run that 7.4 volt powered oval car at? All the popular pancar oval racing I'm aware of uses 4.8 volts.

Me 3 days ago:
I would like to see more santioning bodies to legalize lipos (like RC Pro) possibly for some outside events or exibitions to get it started.

Roar announcement today:

There - its started just the way I thought it would. You guys can thank me later. Now I'm going to work on getting ROAR to switch completely to brushless motors! (just kidding).

That's an awesome step in the right direction. Hopefully there's a good turnout for it. The fact that the races are 20 minutes worries me a little, can Orion's 4800 pack make it that long? If not, it's going to be a lot of MaxAmps packs. I'm not sure how safe they are compared to Orion, so hopefully nobody does anything silly.

I think it's important to make the distinction of cells based on the actual manufacturer, since that's the entity ultimately responsible for their safety. Although in Orion's case, they made them even more safe with a hard case, and circuitry.

Orion - Kokam
MaxAmps - Unknown
TrakPower - Enerland

Any others in heavy usage in R/C cars?

Duralite/Flight Power make an encased gold car lipo

Off road you may be able to make 20 min with a 13.5 or a Mamba 4600. Some may chose to go with mod motors and do one pit stop.
