I just measured all the belts:

Stock 501X belt = 362mm
Option 501X belt = 369mm
Comment: 4mm wide, same belt front and rear

TA05MS front = 316mm
TA05MS rear = 369mm (same as option 501X belt but narrower)

Looks like we've reached a dead end...

guys i tried the pureten kyosho gas belt and didn't fit, i also tried the v-one RRR's belt didn't fit as well.. i guess we have to wait for the tamiya (maybe they will release those as hop-up options... let's pray)

do tamiya have gear differentials for ta05ms? or that will fit ta05ms.. ofcourse the teeth should be 36t also so we will not encounter some issues.
i want to use gear diffs because i wan't almost zero maintenance because we're racing in parking lot and some dirts are going inside the ball diffs. so i want to use gear diffs.

that sucks bro... Too bad they didn't fit...

About the diff, why change to gear diff? You could just clean every after run, just put some effort on cleaning your diffs... Hehehe... That's what I do even though I am too lazy to clean it because I always get dirty after... But what can I do, I need to do it anyway to get the best performance out of it... Try the 16 balls ball diff, somehow you don't have to clean it or maintain it for like after how many runs or races... Even though it gets dirty... Then if you feel it is getting a little bit noisy or something, then just re assemble it...

im curious.. what are you guys trying to do exactly that there's a "holy grail" type search for longer or shorter belts?

and why the experimentation with the 501x ball diff when the existing works just fine?

The rear belt is shorter. How could it be 369mm vs. 316mm for the front? Am I missing something here?

I`m personally first person to try something new things to my car

My first thought was to make even more free drivetrain to MS change that 18t pulley and different belts like i already did my MRE.

I still belive at when i chance IR to 2.0 it will be more efficient than standard 2.25

And if you look other brand of cars they also use that 2.0 IR so why do i also try this?

Hope that clear up my thought

Just my 2cent

ah... i understand now. it IS unfortunate though that there are 18T center pulleys available, but the belts arent long enough (something i wanted to try, but i figured wasnt possible).

but im sure you can use the 17T pulleys from 3Racing and have enough slack to loosen the belts so they work. that brings your IR down to 2.11. Not exactly 2.0, but at least better than 2.25.

*hopefully* tamiya releases new belts that will allow us to use the different center pulleys.

I think it was inverted... As far as I know and remembered, when I counted the teeth of the front belt, it was written on it that it is 369mm... Maybe it was just a typo...

We are trying to get out of the most performance the 05ms can give...

good enough reason for me... but in my opinion the car is already pretty damn good. no need to mess with a good thing.

if anyone wants an asphalt set up for 13.5/27T using RP30s... let me know. ill post it on here.

i want to try gear diffs coz even i have ball diffs it seems that it doesn't work here in our concrete surface. So gear diffs will be almost zero maintenance. I will just use the ball diff when we will race with you guys there is manila. We will race in futaba cup.
i will try the 16 balls when i have my time. this coming race i will use my m03.. so much fun when using m03's... cheap parts for m03..

Hey Hebiki, can you post your setup? I'd like to compare it to how I've been setting up my car. Are you using a spool setup?
