I don't think too many guys run these on oval. I know a guy that posted here use to run the JRXS with a conversion kit on from I think Extreme racing.
I think both have advantages but overall both are very adjustable cars so go with the one you like more. I think in time the Losi will be easier to get parts for but I'm big into buying the car you like better. You can make either work well.

Most run touring cars on road coarse setups. They are made to turn left and right equally.
If you want to run oval get a used JRXS and order the oval conversion from Extreme and you have your oval touring car.
Here you go.

Motor: Fantom's Checkpoint Modified Motors are killer. But this depends on what class you are running.
Battery: Team Power Push has had some killer packs lately! I tqed and won both the Oval Masters and Snowbirds with his sticks in 19turn Pan Car Oval.

I know you dont want to hear this, but shaft drive is the way to go for oval. Any Tekin or Keyence esc would be awesome, lots of punch

With the STR4 Pro 2 you can mount the motor and batteries either side of the chassis for better inside weight depending on the direction of the track.
