When I raced some of those so called spec classes and some of the cars Adrian mentioned I spent more money than I do now with my top of the line touring car. All the guys I raced spec with also spent tons of money trying to go faster. More tires and even more motors and batteries trying to find one good one.
The TRF415 is only allowed in 1 (GT1 leaving GT2,GT3, Mini and F103GT and SPEC) class so there aren't that many people running them. The TA05 at under $300 FULLY hopped up ($150 out of the box and still competitive) is still over $100 cheaper than any of the High-end tourers (and just as good). A fully hopped up Mini is around $200 and the F103GT is about the same and that's HALF the price of any of the High-end cars. Tires, Motors and Batteries don't count because those exact same expenses go along with the high-end cars. So I don't really see your point. We are talking about cost of the chassis not the extras. Tamiya makes a range of cars for everybody...not just the guy wanting to drop $400 on a chassis alone and that's what we were discussing. Of course Adrian wouldn't admit that a TA05 cheapie will outperform all those other cars...wouldn't want people to realize they don't actually have to spend so much.

You don't actually think the TA05 is just as good as any other tourer out there do you? If you are referring to parking lot and local racers, sure, but if you mean on a higher level such as with the other "high end" touring cars you mention the TA05 can't compete.......

You don't see a TA05 MR edition do you?

I do agree though...Tamiya has the broadest line of cars available..from a Hornet (my 1st car) to the TRF 415.21 MSX MR WC .2345!!

It wasn't meant to be a sideways comment. You guys all need to understand that there is very little to no antimosity among most manufacturers. Most of us are very good friends with people at other companies.

All of us managment guys work together on projects. We have beers together after long days at trade shows, etc. The drivers are the same. Heck, at some point almost everyone was a team mate with everyone else

I doubt you ever will, simply because if he does race the car and show that it is a competent as the 415, Tamiya will have all sorts of problems trying the sell the 415 at 3 times the price of the TA05.

Everyone has a bad day and just because your work is working in the R/C hobby doesn't mean you can't have a bad day. Everyone has one from time to time. Like you said you learned from it and publically stood up to it so that says alot for you. Your only human.
