Default Servo horn Q.

hey just wanted to know if you guys are using any other servo horns other than the ones that come with the R2. Wanted to see if a horn that comes with the TC3 would be ok on my Airtronics servo. It's just a little bit shorter than the one that comes with the kit.

I used a standard Futaba horn when I couldnt locate the one I had with my kit, the holes didnt match up, one either side of the Alex horn...just typical, anyway, I didnt notice any difference with the sterring once I had reset the turning circles/ throw and rate. The are a lot cheaper too, if a little bit more flimsy looking. Havent had any breakages yet though. (Fingers crossed )

Plastic horns are too soft- aluminum all the way. I even went a step further and removed the spring from the servo saver. We don't have 2x4 boards around here. Steering is ultra precise now and doesn't get tweaked on impact. Make sure you have a high torque high speed race servo.

An aluminium servo horn would be nice, if you need the extra weight, and well yes the cuda needs extra weight but no servo saver and a high priced servo....
I think I'd rather leave the servo saver in there thanks The Cuda's yokomo borrowed one is very tough anyway, doubt it will ever tweak on impact.
As long as your servo horn isn't widly different then it should be fine, especially if you have a nice computerised radio so you can change steering travel to suite.

Thanks fella I ended up using the standard horn cut one side off. It seemed to be the same hight as the standard.

I use Dubro horns, they are beefy as hell, no flex at all. I usually lock the servo saver out as well..

Just started putting my R2 together... what's the word on shimming the diff/one way? Should I run the two thin shims on each for now or is there a better method? The bits on the end of the center shaft were a bitch to install too... had to wack 'em in!

Do what the instructions show, and once it is broken in, mess with the shimming.
