I'm sure that the new car will be sweet, but personally I think the shaft cars are better. Look at the success of the TC3 they're way more efficient.

um, the TC3 is one of the most unefficient drivetrains I've known.
It requires a sh!tload of shimming, diff case blueprinting and generally all sorts of hoodoo to get it running smoothly.

Are you sure you're using the best example?

On another note, I think belt cars are by far more efficient, but i can't live without the cracking response of a shaft car.

Luckily I have a TC4. But you don't have to dawg the TC3. I bet whatever car you have hasn't won as many races as the TC3. That's why I bought the newer/better version the TC4.

i do have a car that's won as many races as the tc3, it's another TC3!
I dont mean to criticise, i didn't say it was a lousy car.

oh that's cool. We're basically on the same side. Do you have any cool tips to make my TC4 even better.

Have you ever tried the TC4 and if so, do you highly recommend the SD over it?

you're better off asking this question in the TC4 thread.
I retired my TC3 so long ago that i forgot.
All I remembered was playing with a few sets of springs, sway bars and basically the stock settings. Yes the car was damned good.
It does, however, require some running in and shoehorning to make it run smoothly.

Funny how we're going back to belts... torque-steer does exist after all, eh?

I remember when the TC3 was released and everybody (read AE officials) said this could just NOT happen, haha...

No matter what, my SD still oversteers to the left and understeers to the right (especially apparent with a one-way under load)... some yok factory driver (one of the guys driving a SDW even before it was released, if you see what I mean) even told me Masami was using different droop settings at the rear to offset that... so I guess torque steer really is a problem after all.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Lonestar

The PRO4 guys have the same problem and Atsushi officialy gave the advice to give some more droop on one side of the rear suspension.

So I believe this is a common fact of shaft driven cars.

My SD goes well with stock motors, as they don't have too much torque, but on low grip tracks with modified, my yock sometimes got that effect too....

But the drivetrain is well protected with the shaft drive, which is better than the open belt drives....

Every concept has its advantages as well as disadvantages.

Cheers!
