I was reading the 2007 ROAR rule book and found that for foams the minimum weight is 1418 grams vs 1525 grams for rubber. Wow, what a weight difference! Will the Type R meet the foam weight minimum? As I race primarily foams on carpet.

dasdaman- the new jrxs-r is pretty close to the minimum. mine was around 1445, with a ligthweight shell, but I have 2 fans, a mod motor and a schottky diod so weight will be good on the new car.

Thanks Keven, good to know. :) I am so looking forward to this car. :sneaky:

Not sure why the 107 gram difference between foam and rubber.

Rubber tires weigh quite a bit more then foamies.

Come to me, my precious. Got the car backordered... this is going to be my first sedan in two years. With all the LiPo and brushless racing we're doing, I'm extremely curious to see how this works out. It's a challenge to properly balance a traditional chassis with LiPo when you're required to make weight. Finding a place to stick half a pound of lead takes some work. Plus, it's time for something different.

 THATS ALOT OF WEIGHT!

No doubt. Until the weight rules change, I'm almost tempted to buy the biggest LiPo I can find to make weight easier. MaxAmps has a 10,000 mAh pack now.

Core Creations 12-22-2006 10:11 AM

I think we should just lower the min. weight to 48 or 49 oz.

Yea, that will come eventually if/when LiPo is widely accepted. Changing it on the local level is unfair to people still wanting to use NiMH. As it stands, they can't even make the 51oz we're at with the heavy BL equipment.

Anyway, don't want to derail the thread. I'm just excited to try something new. And not just a new car, but a new concept in chassis design in general. Switching to any other current chassis would be a fairly minor change in comparison, since they all share the same general layout.

Wow! They haven't pushed back the date on Horizon's site lately.

Maybe this time's the real release date.
