as far as the novak documentation goes the 13.5 is supposed to directly compete with 27t brushed, and to my thinking they should be allowed to run together.
I dont want to run against the mod guys, I just dont have the dollars. I am very happy with 'stock speeds' as it means that the drive train components dont wear as fast, and thing are less likely to break in a crash... also our track doenst even run mod, only 540, stock and 19t.

Brushless is less expensive in the long run. It will save you time and money.
Here's an analogy: It's like cheap paper poker cards vs. Kem plastic cards. Sure, Kem cards will cost you $20 for 2 decks initially, but research has shown that over time Kem cards cost less than the cheap paper cards. A deck of Kem cards are durable, washable, and always lay flat.
So, if the better item costs less in the long run, you might as well start off with it and enjoy them from the beginning.

I totally agree, better performance, longer runtimes, less maintenance, and less cost...
i dont see any drawbacks
I'm, just P-O'd that Im not allowed to use it. as I said I might just have to find somewhere else to race...

Has anyone used the Neo-One 1 Star? it is a 13T motor. I suppose it would be similar to the 13.5 in performance.

Its about the smoothest, easy driving motor you can buy...
Even though I have a 3 star & the 2 star , my 1 star get the best overall times & best lap time`s too ...
Don`t hesitate considering buying that 1 Star !

My opinion is that we don't have enough experience with these motors to make rules right now. ROAR could whip up a set of rules and they could be completely wrong and damaging to the hobby. There is just too much we don't know right now.
For example:
Is 13.5BL the right wind?
How does it compare to 27T in Sedan, Oval, 1/12th and Off Road?
Should we used bonded or sintered magnets?
Is any other motor manufacturer will to makes a 13.5?
Should we control prices like on 27T motors?
The best course of action is to let racers run these motors at the club level and get them figured out. By this time next year we will be better prepared to write rules.
This goes for a BL 19T equivalent too.
For example:

If you want to run mixed 27T BR and 13.5BL the local racers should vote on it and if they agree to do it the track will let them. This part is critcal. For there to be a new rule there has to be proof that guys want to do this nationwide.
If the track says no to racer voted changes in local rules you need to tell them to contact ROAR. ROAR encourages this sort of grassroots experimentation.
