Why????
I feel compelled to buy everything!
personally, I think tamiya's move away from factory sponsored driving team is good for the rc hobby.
rc has become a huge monster with sponsored drivers and drivers attempting sponsorship... its a freaking hobby peeps! If racing costs too much... don't race, or choose a hobby that doesn't cost as much... like ping pong.
Tamiya continues to develop race cars for those who's sense of hobby enjoyment involve racing (and also cos we can afford it without a sponsorship). The trf421 fits into that space... and I think its a cool place to be.
I've more respect for privateers who enter races on their own budget, out think and out drive with their own ability, then factory teams that depend on race team support yo get them on a podium. It makes a sale, but it diminishes the personal gratification... methinks.

TRF kits are also usually better equipped than any/most others which must be taken into consideration.
For example the TRF421 comes with two upper decks, four different ballast weights, 420X included both carbon and alu chassis etc.
Over here the value you get with a TRF kit is great (compared to most other cars).

Also, a real factory race team with a handful top drivers is not a bad thing. These people truly help developing the cars - something i wouldn't trust the average hobby driver with. The really bad thing is when these stupid sponsorships include dozens or hundreds of people, who are only local or regional "stars" who'd never be able to pull anything at national or international level.

Certainly not the case in EU.

Looking at the most expensive kit in your list, the X4 24, and comparing to the TRF 420X. From Amain in USD, Xray $719 and Tamiya $989. I'm based in Australia so looking at the AUD locally, $1000 for the Xray and $1400 for the Tamiya.

The new kit will be considerably less expensive than the TRF420X. Nonetheless that car was almost 1k here in the USA. I think most people here just bought theirs overseas at ~$600-650.

It's not even out yet, where are you getting that price from?

When I compiled the list I checked several EU shops for all kits, so it is not guesses but actual EU prices.
I bought the TRF420X for 649 EUR when it was released (pre-order), but later most prices were 689-749 EUR on that kit.

TRF421 is $1040 with map of $728. So clearly that extra chassis doesn’t cost $360.
RCMart will end up selling the 421 high $590-$620 or so.

One thing that I love about the 420X was that you would need to spend exactly zero on any extras - everything was in the box, and it's been the same in a lot of the TRF kits (not all though)
