Default Gearing

After reading a lot of the posts, I may seem off topic a bit. But what's the optimum gearing for my TC5 with a Novak 17.5 and a GTB speed control ? Outside of the front end seeming a little tender, this car has been great.

And that's coming from a team that won "Most Broken Parts" a couple of years back......

Good place to start for a med sized track is around 4.2 FDR. Larger track can get down to mid to high 3's but better to start conservative and check temps. I recommend a 72-75T spur (48P) to get there. The 75T you can gear 13.5 and 17.5 without changing the spur.

Right around 3.8 fdr . Depends on track/size so temp after 3 minutes

I got mine from Harris R/C, and according to their website they are in stock http://www.harrisrc.com/tc5p1.htm however saying that I'm not sure if they ship overseas. They are in Sydney, Australia. I've gotten most of my spares from Harris so I'm not sure where else to look.

Do you mean the RC10R5? It has an oval version of it coming out or already out from Associated. Might try www.rc10.com to see if and when it will be out. I havent heard of anyone going 1s lipo in a touring car. It has been mostly 1/12 scale or the 1/10 scale pan cars.

I have not heard any oval stuff for a TC5. It was never supposed to be a oval car. They still have the 10L I think for that.

Guys, I know it was not intended to be an oval car. But it is a damn good one none the less. The TC3 and the TC4 were not oval cars either but someone made oval chassis for them. If you know of someone making them please respond. Thanks
P.S. we run three classes of 4wd oval here in OKC. It's a blast

Maybe if you can find a battery tray from a 10L4O car, like this http://67.199.85.166/ae/10l4o/l4o_biastray.jpg , you could attach this to the left side of the car?

So I've put quite a bit of time on the new car now with the Exotek chassis and narrow bulk heads. The car is dialed! I'm the fastest I've ever been and have some ideas on how to improve on that further. Picked up a second TC5 today. Not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
