Just out of curiosity and for my own information, did you water dip those motors for break in???? Sometimes that can give you unusually high amp draw readings with the cans that had the soft brushes. You can, if you're lucky, get the amp draw readings down to more normal readings by cleaning them very thoroughly. If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, clean them with a mild solution of water and dish detergent. If not use a lot of motor spray.

yes i did.. i water dipped them for break-in then played with both of them at the track.. reced a few times..
they were tested after i used them for practice.. they were not clean at the time.. they were also both soft brushed johnson 540 motor..

ill try to thoroughly clean them and test them again. ill up date you granpa of the results.. maybe tommorow or the day after tommorow. have to go to my friends coz i dont own a dyno.

btw, i geared them at 5.1 fdr, after a run i checked the temp and it gives a reading of 94.. the guys at our local track said i can even lower the fdr to about 4.9 because its temp is not yet over 100..
well... im confused. hehehe! i thought racing rc was easy, just drive good and thats it. now i learned that you have to consider a lot of variables. maybe im starting to learn.

Over here in NZ we run a 540 class. but we are usually in the 4.1 - 3.9 FDR area. But it all really depends on your track.

i tried 4.3 fdr before, my silvercsn smoked! it literally smoked.. after that the motor is busted. hehehe! maybe because the climate here is hot, thats why.. im from the phillipines by the way.. thanks matt!

Matt : What kit were you using a 4.x FDR with? I'm guessing a shaft car? Doki's using an Xray T2. I've used 4.6 before in a Ta03 with a loose belt. Motor was baking hot but the car was fast.

Well, your motor could have been a dud then. Then only reason that I can think of it if it had been only partly run in. As the brushes tend to arc in them when they are only partially run in and makes the motor run hot. Was it a mabuchi or johnson silver can?

its a johnson silver can with the soft brushes.. i dont think its not yet fully broken in.. i water dipped it and used it in several races.. anyways, im new at this silver can thing.. so maybe its not yet really broken in. hehehe!

the Silver can class is good, but its hard to get a motor that runs really well. And then when you do have a really fast motor, you need to make sure that you don't over gear it, otherwise, Poof! and there goes all your hard work.
