I have nothing against foam tires; but do we really need to introduce another touring car class‽
Mod, 13.5, 17.5, 21.5, USGT, VTA... now how many of those will have rubber and foam variants?
Is the assumption that foam tires will replace rubber for some of those classes (presumably ROAR classes)? Or am I just missing something?

rubber tires take truing out of the equation, people don't see tires wear down. so it is assumed they are cheaper and last longer.

you have been on here since 2001 maybe not involved with aspects of TC racing. but TC indoors was foam until the whiners set in around 2005/6 to get rubber added indoors carpet at first or second IIC and another indoor race, believe it was a Reedy type race

Back then you had stock, mod and rarely 19 turn. During the transitions, to and from foam, splitting the fields by tire type sucked. Today we have far more base classes, and splitting them again by tire until things shake out is going to be even worse.

This is a great way to sell new variants of the same chassis.
Are we bringing back NiMH saddle packs too?

This is backwards move, if you want to run foams get a nitro car.

I am one of the many that quit running TC when it went rubber. The cars were very inconsistent. Almost like the car never really has full traction. Now that there is a new interest in foam TC, I will actually get a car again. Foam was so much easier than rubber and the smallest changes were actually felt. As for the cars flipping off the track, yeah, I didn't see any rubber tire cars doing the same thing,.

I wouldn't say inconsistent, just more difficult/challenging to drive, needs to adjust driving style, car setup depending on track, weather etc
On the other hand, using foam, makes you concentrate on your driving more than setup as car is much more forgiving.
So what I do is run TC rubber and 1/10 or 1/12 Pan Car with foam
(if we were using foams I would have won more races than now as I keep making small mistakes after I slightly go out of clean line on asphalt and loose traction, but I still prefer rubber )

After watching nitro guys get 1 maybe 2 runs out of a set during the summer i can without a doubt say i do not have any interest in reliving the 90's. Thanks but imho, touring is best on rubber. I honestly do not care if they wear better or not, 50lb springs can't be far behind. What a joke.

If you’re happy with spending money on rubber tires for sub par performance and
Maybe a run or two longer life than foams so be it.
Run VTA or USGT or F1. Why not actually maximize the performance of the chassis with a foam tire in TC?
That whole communal or better yet “commodal” mindset I don’t understand.
I want to go faster when I race not slower.
This whole anti fast generation is akin to everyone gets a trophy.

1/12 foam is my favorite class.
I remember when I was racing 19T foam, this was a great class.
foam get my vote, especially if there will be no need to truing the tire.
