WOrth every penny on a rig thats technically supposed to rock hop, and crawl. Everything brushless non sensored cogs like crazy, including the stock motor.

Sensored is worth its weight in gold on a rig like this. I'm looking into 6 pole 2850kv setups like the new Mamba X sensored 2850kv waterproof setup. Might just run my Tenshock 1/8 setup until its released though

I actually want to slow it down a bit and make it a little more gears towards crawling but still be able to chase my dog Wilbur, aka, "Big Willy" around the yard. I plan on running 2s lipo.
Also, has anyone tried a Hobbywing 4000k (545) sensored 4-pole motor/sensored esc combo. They tend to be on par with most of the sensored 550 4-pole motors so thinking one should be capable in this rig.
Thanks fellas.
double the kv of the stock motor? and smaller can? I smell a burned ESC/motor in your future

Okay. I saw Tekin has a couple of 550 4-pole motors in the 1800-2300kv range. That would probably work better for more crawling ability, on 2s.

Default Beadlock wheel questions

I want to buy some light headlock rims to put the stock Losi creepy crawler tires on but want to be able to mount Proline Hyrax tires on later. I'm sick of trying to pick out what should fit. A good plastic/nylon beadlock wheel should be able to mount the creepy crawler tire and a proline hyrax but all the different proline rings and normal rings have me worried. I don't want aluminum due to keeping it light and nimble. What wheel would yall suggest for both tires or is there no hope?!?!?!

I was thinking about setting this Rock Rey up more for crawling. I am going to lock the front diff. I am wondering if I should do the center diff as well or leave it alone for now?

Yea I am not worried about competition just driving here around the mountain. I would like to know why it is required for competition?

Some questions for you owners:
- anyone tried out the new kit version of this truck? Pricing is pretty good and for those who have all their own electronics it seems like a decent deal
- how is parts supply for stock parts from Losi? Pretty good?
- how is aftermarket? are there a lot of options for things you might want to either hop-up or customize? any must-have parts besides the servo horn?

Thanks!

I read it in one of those Rock Rey reviews of the kit before I purchased it. One of the major YouTubers said all it needs is a locked Center diff for competition. What the class is or where I have no idea.

mine climbs absolutely fantastic and it's a great platform all around but it will not keep up with real Crawlers. It's more of a basher, a very very stout bashing capable one...

I am just thinking that if I go through the trouble to tear that thing apart I do not want to have to do it again. I read some place that I am better off with the center diff locked.

Any suggestions for reducing the tendency for the Rey to roll in turns? I have to run and flip mine over a couple times whenever I run it. Maybe different tires or adjust my shock positions?

I just locked my center and front diffs with silly putty. It is a whole new machine now and rolls even more. Very hard to control at any type of high speed. Defiantly crawls better though.
