Yep. The heavy duty industrial stuff from Lowes or Home Depot.

b4maz:

So after you removed the tabs on the top cover you used velcro. So I take it that the non velcro ribbon part is threaded thru the holes in the chassis where the nimh's would have been? And the ribbon strap is underneath the chassis and the velcro part attaches on the top over the batteries to secure them?

Is it possible for you to get some pics from the top and bottom of the chassis with the batteries installed?

thanks....

Its not like that. I should take some pics later. Basically, the Velcro is on the bottom of the saddle pack and I put Velcro on the chassis underneath the pack. I didn't shave off the battery hold down nubs completely, But now I can slide a hard cased lip-po underneath the belt cover/battery hold down. This keeps the pack from coming up, and the Velcro keeps the pack from sliding. Its not an elegant solution, but it works VERY well. I've had some bad tumbles and I haven't had the packs ever come loose.

It would be nice to get some Velcro straps, or make a mounting system like the B44. Put aluminum posts in front and behind the pack and put a CF plate on top.

I know! Thats what I thought too. I never thought it would work. But I had this car sitting around for many years and I never raced it. All I had was saddle packs so I had to make something. The first time I took it out I drove really slow, and got faster and faster when it looked like everything was working. Then I took some tumbles after getting about 6' of air and the batteries stuck like glue. This Velcro isn't the standard stuff. Its MUCH more grippy. I need a screw driver to pry the battery off the Velcro. I agree this isn't a permanent solution, but it works.

I had a BJ4WE this last season. I still have a extra set of blue anonized battery posts. I think I'll order some of the BJ4WE CF battery hold downs and drill the chassis to accept the posts and file down the nubs on the top belt cover. The batteries should just slide in and be totally secured from the top and should not slide because of the posts. It should be a very clean set up and go great with the rest of the blue bling on the car.

The best thing is that I'll still be able to use 5000 mah saddle packs. 2 of them should do for the next racing season.

Hi guys, i'm wondering can i use shocks from Kyosho, Tamiya, Traxxas, AE..etc on the XX4/X5. I've got a XX4 without shocks and would like to try out shocks from different companies. I'm kinda interested in getting the Traxxas big bore shocks, just wondering will it fit. Thanks

I dont know about the big bore shocks but any standard sized shock should be alright. If you dont have losi's laying around use what you have, but if you are going to go out and buy some, Losi's threaded shocks are nice!
