The addendum puts the rear diff assembly into the front replacing the larger diff allowing extra slack in that front belt. Or are you all running the larger diff gear in the front of your Worlds Editions.
My books do not show the rear diff going up front. The gears are different sizes, with the larger one that has a lip on it going up front. If you try to put the smaller one up front, the front belt will be too loose since there's no adjustment. I suspect that the rear would then have issues with the larger one. FYI - for a new rear belt, I found that the loosest setting (A - forward) was best. Stock is referred to as "Tight" (B - back), and I felt it was just too much that way.

Thanks! Horizon has the rear belt and Losiparts has the side...but couldn't find the front belt...is the front belt and the side belt the same?? They have the same small teeth, so I'm assuming

I'm 100% noob when it comes to these offroad buggies

Front and side are the same..... go all green belts and for sure rebuild the diffs before you reinstall them! Yes I go with the loosest rear belt setting!

Thanks for the info on the front diff, just when I was asemblying the xx-4 and cross referencing the standard manual to the Worlds addendum manual that part of it did not make sense. If all of you are running the larger one with the lip on one side and has had great success I will save the extra set of gears I bought for a future rebuild.

Hope to get it on the track soon and be more impressed than running a xxx-4

The XX-4 WE addendum does have you switch front and rear diff gears, which is why it also has you put the "B" block with the arrows to the rear.

The rear pulley will not work in the front and the front pulley will not work in the rear because the front pulley and belt use small teeth and the rear pulley and belt use big teeth. The rear pulley will not mash with the front belt and the front pulley will not mesh with the rear belt.

To my understanding, the meaning of the "switching" in the attendum is to use the front diff build instructions with the rear diff pulley (to build the rear diff).

That is because the WE uses plastic outdrives in the rear and the original instructions talk about steel outdrives in the rear and plastic in the front.

Avner.

An excellent point, Avner. I forgot about the pitch of the teeth on the belts. That would easily be the biggest problem with switching the pulleys.

The addendum text does say "replace the front diff pulley with the rear diff pulley", but your expalnation is right on. It's just a poor choice of words.

I knew if I asked the question to racers of this car that I would get an explanation. I didnt have a used car or a kit to see what parts were given in the box it was built pkg by pkg.

Thanks for the help in clarifying manual.

Hmm... its been working the way they said to build it... I'll have to look at it closely the next time it's apart... I know that we switched the diff gears as instructed... I remember reading it over and over to make sure I understood it correctly..
